Did you not consider running a plenum of sorts? They aren't needed for injection unlike of you were running a HIF44, but the little experience I have of turbo cars has shown that you can normally get a bit more power with one.

In short yes did look at making a plenum but just chose the easiest route to get going, maybe something to look at in future.

Got to a point where starting to fire the engine up and the new Brise hi torque starter was making a horrible noise. This is the second one I've had now I had problems with the one on the KAD motor. Whipped it off and found this

Matt, you need to make sure Brise are using the correct gear on the starter, I had this problem on an engine I built, chewed two ringears and two gears on the motor and as a result of poor engagement fucked the starter up, you need the largest dia gear they make to get best engagement and there are three different tooth counts available

Carl thanks for the advise I will be sure to look into it before asking to be sent another one. I didn't think the width of the starter gear looked as wide as the gear on the standard starter either!

So after not doing much with this last year I've started to get it back in motion.

Middle of last year the car was ready for mapping so decided to take it somewhere I'd been before a fairly well known place and was happy with the service I'd received previously. The day didn't start well when they said they had 2 turbo minis there previously and they weren't any good (the cars). In actual fact I think he was suprised it started on the button first time.

After running in and changing the oil in he started to try and do a few power runs and it seemed to be pulling really well, no issues at all. Then a guy came in and said it was making a lot of black smoke out the extracted system and at this point he appeared to lose interest. He then was pointing the finger at valve stem oil seals which we suggested to him are fitted through out.
So after that he didn't go any further with the car but the reason behind that could've been because he had his mate in a noble in in the afternoon.

So came away disappointed and £500 down. At the point we left it the car was making 100bhp at 8psi and that was with no bleed on the accuator.

After feeling some what deflated with it I've spent some time and gone over the engine and everything is as it should be. The car is booked in with emerald on the 23rd of this month. They have mapped a car of similar spec to mine before so I'm confident they know what there doing.
