The boring bloke who runs this place.

Berkshire

It's always been more quiet in the winter since only the bigger boys brave the cold to work on their cars.

That, and it's slow as feck these days and I've not had the time/motivation to fix it!

Oh, and the people that kept this place busy 10 years ago in their 20's are now in their 30's with kids, married, working etc etc. We're all TIRED. *wink*

I'm fairly new here so no idea what you old fuckers are on about *wink* *wink*.

Must say I love it.

I would say that forums are slowly dying because of the Facebook car owner groups. I have an old Honda Civic again (owned one in 2010) the forum for that was so busy in 2010-2011 and now it's literally dead. One post a day, whereas the facebum forum group is very busy.

I have noticed a new turbo/supercharged mini group on Facebook, I've not joined because of the above!

I know what you mean. But after 15 years of posts maybe we've all said everything!

I'm still here all the time. But the Mini has taken a back seat because of the single seater. Not posted much on that as I wasn't sure of the interest level.

Mini is due to be put back together next year.

I think this is valid, after 15 years most topics have been covered before. This in itself means less posting goes on. Thankfully there is a very good search facility.
It would be great though if some of the guys who are still here after 15 years could repost pictures, details, build threads of their cars from way back. The photos on many of them old threads no longer work so maybe its time to revisit them....

I too, still visit the site several times a day. The forums been a massive inspiration for me over the last 6 years.

However there seems to be a real lack of new members coming through, and them that do don't always feel that welcome. This is something that's been said to me on a few occasions.

Im also on TMF, but only every posted 15 times or so, but do find myself on there a lot more these days, but I suppose I am doing a Micra conversion.

Im still around, I check in a couple of times a week. Unfortunately the Irish economy is so destructed and our government is working so hard to lever every single penny out of us. It has all I can do to keep my little business a float. Altho there is a new project in the workshop keeping the spot welder busy. Maybe after christmas Ill start a build tread

I come on most days, don't really post much because I'm not doing anything note worthy on either of my minis. Got no money to do anything with them between having a baby on the way in April, and leaving the army/transitioning in my new job. Try to put some money aside for hobbies etc but bills and food are more important! But there's always something interesting to read on here, and there's loads of good information to trawl through when you need an answer for something.

Also echoing some other people's comments, the mini scene is getting a bit stale. Gave up on reading the magazines really unless there's an interesting cover car etc. Went to a few of the ford shows last year which made for a change of scene, and will probably go again next year if I'm honest.

The mini scene is gradually selling it's assets to investors, who are then putting them back to factory +++ and that's it.

It's a shame, but there is no way I'd buy a mini now. They have just gone silly. Esp early ones.

Swansea boyo!

I've only been doing shows for 2/3 years and I'm already bored of mini ones. I wouldn't have done mitp this year if I wasn't going down the strip purely for the fact there was so many binis there! Like other people, I'm not doing anything new with mine, the fact it's in and running fine still isn't that interesting haha. There's so much good information free for the world to see here, I'd imagine some people just read what they need then don't sign up. Sadly you a lot of you guys are getting to the stage where you have a lot of commitments and don't have the time to play racecars any more! I'd definitely say it's quality over quantity now on here, I'd rather have two people who know what they are talking about over twenty who don't! Plus a lot of you make clear that the search function is there for a reason *tongue*

See I don't care about the mini shows, and as for mitp I want more of the new minis running as its soooooo funny when you out run them!

One thing I know is and Tm has proved it in the past, at Avon we can have fun in a car park!

This has always been the place for seriously fast minis! Were we push each other each year! To go faster!

This year has proved it to me! At pod I had one of the best pit crews for info, help, and lots more...

As to why the ford shows are better? Well I don't have one, but I am guessing that most of the blokes that had them 30 years ago, have now got old, kids have moved out, and what to find something to get out of the house and spunk there pension on!

There is some very nice cars been built at the min! Behind closed doors, and popping up on FB all from Tm lads.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Im in a similar boat done the mini scene a few years now in a club and on forums. At the start of my turbo build but 2 kids and promotion keep me busy at the mo. Ive not posted much because of the "opinions" batted around when i was heavily sharing my vtec build i tend to keep myself to myself after that but do read the forum alot as the info is there and ask questions of the right folk when required. Wealth of knowledge here.

Outside the box

haha I've seen your mk2 on FB. And now especially the static mini shows, many of the cars are the same at every show. MITP is more interesting because at least there is cars battling it up the strip. And as Simon says, its funny seeing MINIs getting beat!!

That's because folks don't use the TM photo uploader. If they did, the pics would be around as long as the site is active.

As i hear around some people don't like the comments they get here. As for me. Well yes i got comments but see it as constructive things.
My build isn't the best. It isn't the prettiest. Isn't the most advanced one but had allot of advise and help from people here. Turbo position came of wel now got my pistons here rings etc. All stuff i wouldn't ever find else. And all of them came with advise on do this stay away from that. Making an expensive build cheaper by not having to pay 2times.
I read up on some nice vtech builds turbo builds and see amazing body workers. And seeing all that often gives me the sence to keep going at it.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018
