Hi Jb007,

Not to hijack the thread, but can you give me some info on the SU TBI adaptor you used? Where did you get it? and is it only 1 injector?

Want to do something like this on my Riley Elf

Back to the thread... :) (and thanks!)

Thanks for the info guys, least i know theres a bit of choice with regards to the coil(s)

I've come a bit stuck though! I've not got the help on board that I thought I did!

Went round a mates the other day for a chat and to see if he still had the old MPI manifold that he had off me, and he just looked at me completely puzzled as to why I would want to use it.

I explained what I have been going through with you guys, and what you had advised me on and against, but he just doesn't think it's 'the way to go'. Infact, he seems to think we would be better off putting an SPI set up with an aftermarket ecu on, as apparently people are getting into the 100bhp figures with them, with just a decent head and cam... *Confused*

So after that i came home completely confused again and started thinking back to one of my other plans, which was to go for a wet manifold set-up, 2 injectors (one in each inlet tract) and forget about the sequential part for now, get myself running and understanding EFI properly and then maybe think about it again after that.

*Confused* *Confused*

Thoughts?

Cheers

The most accurate fuelling will come from a port injection system where you can vary fuel timing. However, a single point system will work.

I think make a list of your priorities and decide from there. So if cost is important and you can get the wet manifold bits cheap then go for that (for example). If optimum fuelling is important go for port injection.

At least in the short term, I'll be using an SPI manifold as the engine slowly evolved from an standard SPI. The main problems I've had are getting enough clearance underneath and routing the boost to the top side, but generally, it was more fiddly than expected.

I think an MPI manifold would have been a better choice, but if I did it all again, I'd instead think about modifying a standard carb manifold for port injection, or just build one from scratch (throttle body on the side of a plenum, into 2 longish parallel-ish runners with port injection.
