Cheeky bugger *happy*

Good progress this morning,
I have 50 psi of oil pressure on cranking according to my highly accurate Chinese gauges *happy*
Fuel pump and coil all wired up.
connected HT leads, I have a spark but a weak one. The plugs are new so I have ordered new rotor arm and dizzy cap to see if that helps. I also cleaned the connections on the terminals for the coil. The engine earth strap was wire wheeled before fitting so that should be ok.

I have made my exhaust up, It consists on a single box cat back rc40 pipe with Maniflow decat pipe (I had these on before and being tight didn't want to buy full exhaust), Then a rc40 lcb to cat link pipe pushed inside the Maniflow turbo down pipe and welded together by Stevie wonder.
Que laughing at my pigeon poo errr I mean welding.

This came in the post today:

Its been a proper shit week.
Some drunken twat decided he would go for a joy ride and managed to plough into my daily megane and run off, leaving me with no car as its a cat b write off and no courtesy car because its not repairable. In all the time ive had two cars to use, the mini isn't done yet and the megane fooked. Arrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhh

So this morning I woke up in Belgium(lorry driver) and decided, today is the day, that mini will run tonight or tomorrow if it takes me that long lol!

Good news, ITS ALIVE!

Probs camera phone. However I did have the plug leads on the dizzy slightly wrong so have sorted that and it ran much smoother. Thr daylight should help me check everything and box it up fpr first drive *happy*

This chap makes you look bad Curt! How long have you been building yours? lol

Actually I shouldn't speak! It only took me about 6 years to get a turbo mini that actually worked (and 4 cars).

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

ok, so it runs and drives. Does anyone know how to remove this hideous grin off my face lol?

I have set boost to 0.4 bar for now, 1st and second are great but third and fourth at w.o.t holds back, if I come off the throttle a bit it goes again. Is this lean or rich. I am just hoping the in tank spi pump is up to the job. Rolling road booked for Monday so I will find out for sure but would be nice to have an idea before I go.
bdd needle
fixed advance at 19 degrees for now

Now it took a bit of sorting but its done, well needs bay tidying up etc but the engine is now in tune. Had to block the two pipes on the carb that are usually linked.

Anyway, a video

What boost would a standard metro turbo be running then as thought they were in the 90's figures

metro turbo runs 7psi standard and 94bhp at the flywheel.

I am running an spi cam and 33mm inlet valves (smaller than metro) and I Have 7 psi and 60 bhp at the wheels. According to the chap at rollers its about 90 bhp at the flywheel. The peak power is very early on, by 5500 rpm she's all done.

All these numbers are arse anyway, It feels lively and I am happy.

Some head work, another cam and 10psi of boost will see me with a bit more once I have the pennies.

I have a complete standard metro turbo lump that i will put in something one day so i can experience a more tame driveable turbomini.. well done youve put most to shame time wise!! Any funny storys of embarrassing/surprising people?

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

The upside down skip drove best with a T3, mg cam, well worked head and 12psi. Was a nice fast drive with no torque steer.

Good effort getting it done so quickly. Being happy with it is the most important bit.

It drives really nice, plenty of pull and she starts with some turboness from 2200rpm.
No stories yet, only people looking around for the turbo wooshy noises and seeing nothing but a stock mayfair on 145/70/12's lol

That's a nice spec that I would be happy with in the future. I am using n/a pistons so I think 10 psi is my limit?
Going to keep my eyes peeled for mg cam and then get head worked.
Need to do something with final drive ratio though, 90mph gps speed is 6000+ rpm *surprised* (private road of course)
Speedo is very pessimistic too.
