It's similar to an oil cooler shroud I made for my mates 300bhp cvh rs turbo about 10 years ago!

I'd say that the hose is too small.... I'd GUARANTEE that that set up sacks power. Sorry.

Well the hose is the same size as a miglia one and as evo said we will see through testing. There is a plan to make it into just a cold air feed if it does sap power |

I think he's being sarcastic regarding hose size ?

Not being sarcastic. If testing, perfect. If you calculate how much air going in there at full chat, you'd be surprised. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

Yeah there is a plan to put a relief hole in the other side if the engine is suffocated. I've seen it done on miglias so the box won't be ram air and cold air but will just be cold air feed.

That hose looks large enough to flow at least 300HP...I'd love to see a N/A A-series run that to its limits! |

The formula student lot pull 75hp through a 22mm or so inlet.

I do agree that a smooth wall hose will help massively. That spring reinforced convoluted stuff makes the flow very turbulent.

Thanks guys, but I had a quick search last night and couldn't find anything labeled 'smooth wall' could you point me in the right direction??

I think that what is meant is simply just a hose without the convoluted type wall, I.e. A large silicone hose would be a 'smooth' walled hose. This would stop any turbulence as Tom says and potentially aid air flow speed.

In general I have always been steered away from using 'Donkey dick' convolute type ducting hose for any 'closed' engine air inlet related feeds.
