State of play this lunchtime. Had Sunday off but worked Monday and today!

Bottom end went together ok. Needed to wip a little off the rods as there was no thrust clearance. Who ever ground the crank (not us!) didn't take enough off the thrust faces so it was tight where it had been offset ground.. Easy fix tho.

Also had to turn the cams down to give clearance on the head nuts, not seen anyone needing to do this before? I seem to remember SC's build guide wants you to shorten the studs but this wasn't a problem. Just the Nuts fouling..

Left the timing for tomorrow and started to crack on with the box. Little clearance issue fixed and i started to build it up only to realise i had forget to order a pickup pipe.. Cue last min mini spares order.. Box will have to wait till Thursday now.

Be sure to check that the cams do not foul the head nuts or studs. I lopped 5mm off the top of all the studs and used Cooper S big end nuts *wink*

As impressed as I am with this build, I am really liking the engine stand/workbench idea and the chair, the thought of being able to assemble an engine from a comfortable seated position has blown my mind.

Well, got it all together and plonked in the car on Saturday. Was so busy didn't have time for any photos and had a few teething problems with getting it going. It think its ECU related as it will turn over and fire as it should but it seems as soon as it comes off the base line of the map it just dies again.. im not that experienced with mapping so not 100% sure what is wrong, ive checked and fiddled with the obvious things. (fuel pressure, trigger wheel position etc.) It seems that all 4 injectors are firing on cranking ok and its got 4 sparks on cranking too. Im thinking its a mapping issue as it just seems to cut the fuel as soon as it gets off the cranking settings.. Does anyone have any experience with the Typhoon ECU who might have any ideas?? I dnt think its a mechanical issue as it sounds like it wants to go not poping and banging or anything!!

Try putting some acceleration enrichment in.

Make sure it's set to TPS or MAP, depending on what you are using. Have you set the TPS up?

If you stick it on the detailed dials page you can see what's going on.

Good work by the way.

as above reload the software, I had the same issue but with megasquirt,

also check that the base map is for the right size injectors,

if its for larger ones, then there may be enough fuel on cranking, but soon as it cuts onto the map it may be too lean.

also thats a thought, the extra capacity will not help, you may need to bump up the fueling, say 10%?

Yeh the more i think about it the more the extra 70cc and larger 38mm bodies seem that will make more of a difference than i was thinking.

Ive left it in the hands of my dad for the week to try a few things, Il get back on it Saturday and see what we can sort.

Oh and il take some photos of the car, you might be disappointed at this stage tho!

If your injectors are different from the ones used to calibrate the map it won't work.

There was some one else who had exactly the same problem and found the wrong base map had been loaded
