put them on a flat surface to check they are flat, the heat treating can warp them, and if they are warped they wont sit on the gear properly, so wont grip it.

Hmm interesting. I always thought the sharper ones were better as these are what all of the originals I have pulled out of old boxes have been like including the old set I have in front of me now. The green pack ones are also like this. The cheapo £7ish Minispares ones are squarer.

6 notch ones are also better than 3 notch,
