I'm gutted I didn't have a double garage, I would have bitten your hand off to buy the red mini for a couple of years of fun, on the track.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

yup I have the same problem with the bike ,85 lbs ft and the clutch gives up .

stronger springs makes a difference ,as does getting an extra plate in there ,but the real solution is a centrifugal weight clutch ,that increases clamping loads the higher it revs ,

very common on high bhp drag bikes.

On 23rd Jul, 2014 wil_h said:

Current setup made 180ish at 10psi and 10000rpm. Problem was that the clutch was slipping at 95lbft so couldn't get a full power run. 15psi will be well into the 200s. But drivetrain needs a bit of thinking about befor increasing boost.

I have fitted an uprated clutch, but will still probably be on the limit.

Well we're slowly getting there. The last even I wasn't even last!

I'm out again in a few weeks, hopefully my setup work and new turbo will improve my times to a decent midtable.

Winter plans for more boost and new tyres being made (5-year old slicks are never the best).

Here's a splendid photos of me in action - steady boys!

Another update to keep the forum interesting.

After a reasonable season the car was now reliable, but definitely NOT fast; we were propping up the bottom of the timesheets. So, going faster is easy - Less weight, more power, less drag, more downforce and more grip!!

Plonked it on the scales first

Eek, that's a bit fat. Most cars in the class are 330kgs, with a few 280kgs and some claimed less than 250kgs. After a bit of head scratching, we reckoned a 20kg loss was possible. So out with the grinders.....

Started like this

and ended like this

Lots of other bits made lighter like the boost hoses, the scavange pump, the breather system anf the rear wing end plates. I've also ordered a CF floor and diffuser to replace the GRP one.

The rear wing has also had adjustment built in to reduce drag, and the car will be treated to a new set of boots.

New turbo is a £90 eaby special GT17 core.

Makes the boost exactly as the old one did.

Running around 15psi at the moment. A test day in March should see that rise a little:)
