That looks like the Avonbar intercooler kit for the Metro. It sat the intercooler under the normally blanked off bonnet vent on the drivers side.

Fibreglassing is easy. There are a few rules and as with everything practice makes perfect. We are lucky that our mate Eric is an expert and has given us a master class. If you need help getting started I am sure we can help you out.

Could well be, it's a bespoke item (i.e. not OEM)

Like welding, once you have the right kit and a bit of practice, it's easy to get the hang of.

The difference between welding and GRP-ing is that you can get much better with GRP in a shorter time than getting good at welding

Well, I'm still shit at welding after 5 years...

I've found what looks to be a reasonable book for beginners, so I will probably just make up a load of fibreglass but plugs to help me get the hang of it. *wink*

And now a before and after of the fitted item. Note that the foglight is now one of the reverse lights.

The downpipe knuckly bit looks quite low. Is there anyway you could cut and shut that to get more ground clearance? Or is the subframe in the way.

It's a bit of both. It's excayly the same height as it is on a mini, you just never see it from that angle. Not much you can do really.

It's the same height in both pictures BTW

Well it failed it MOT today. You won't believe it, the horn wasn't working. Got it home and after a little investigation it became apparent why..............

.........It didn't actually have funking horn fitted. Took me 15 minutes of searching to find it was missing.

It now has a horn and will get a ticket on Friday.

Le Mans is beckoning.

Well I wasn't convinced that much air was going in through the sidevents to the IC. So in true F1 style...........

I think the best way to make it work well is going to be to add a duct on the bottom of the IC and vent it to a low pressure point on the back of the car,

So now it's on the road it need miles under its belt before the big trip to France.

I took it down to Ben's on Wednesday, and the fuelling was shocking. 12:1 on cruise and off the scale lean on boost. A quick check showed that it had a standard BDD. I reckoned that the float bowl wasn't pressurising as the fuelling went so lean.

So I inspected the plenum restrictor. This is what I found - One fitted on left, new one on right.

The guy who made it obviously understood that the restrictor was important, but failed to make it to the correct dimensions. So it wasn't really a restrictor. The new on is a copy of an original, but a bit longer to fit this plenum.

Not tested it yet, but hopefully this will do the job.

Well that worked a treat.

Problem no is it's 17:1 on tickover, 12:1 on cruise and 10:1 on boost.

New needle time.
