Yes your not wrong there. The wiring will be the worst job i think but im determined to do it myself after a little research into electrics.

Found my first downside tho... My 130 cooper s binacle wont be much use, which is a basard :( but cant dwell on it. Going to try and do a subtle honda centre clock arangement.

Well rocker cover is refurbed...

Looking ok, hoping the paint will matt a bit as it gets older as was going for a tandard type r look, overall fairly happy with it. Now to clean the rest of the engine. :)

Do people honestly remove a good fuel injection system and dump a set of carbs on them?

Not usually, they use bike throttlebodys and keep the honda stuff but run a mappable ecu like hondata.

Being realistic the standard 170 will be safest for now aswell so i can get used to it as the last engine i had was the standard cooper lump.

Got some good pregress this weekend...

Decided to get to the front end welding And taking the rot out. Decided the pnly way to get at all was to cut the scuttle, the upside is i have got rid of the cold air vents in the process so very happy :)

That was saturday afternoon the sunday afternoon i made te closing panels, the window seem and slapped sone primer on for now just to keep the metal safe till next weekend:

Jizered the worst off the engine:

And the whole weekends progress.. Like to stand back and see what ive acheived with a cuppa before i take off so heres how it now stands:

Great job on the scuttle. Mine needs some work, wish I had the confidence/skill to do that!

Alex this is the first time ive welded on my mini, so there was not alot of skill there lol, for me it was a case of why go for half measures. Its not as bad as you think when you get stuck in. Alot of people would have done alot better job than me. You just have to go fot it and see what happens :)

Right an update :)

Well, was chilly this weekend so ended up plumbing in some heat:

Filling and sanding:

A generous amount of seam sealer:

Came in handy for warming up tins before painting aswell:

Scuttle painted, its not bodyshop standard but im happy with how its come out, theres a few iffy bits but generally it came out good:

After laquer:

Then i painted the rest in underbody paint to protect it nicely:

Getting there. Waiting on my tower bolt from minisport so i can bolts it together:

Loving the colour match to the carbon, you eont know untill you look close up which was the plan:

Not going to be able to use my cooper 130 clocks as mentioned before :( but i recon i can get the honda clocks in a faily nice and subtle way so its not as bad...

:) its nice being in controll of you own project :)

Very wet south wales

Id love a v-tec in mine, revs so high.

Can i ask where did you get the scuttle ends from, seems alot easier than cutting out the lot.

Cheers eden.

Scud i didnt use replacement scuttle ends, i cut the old ones off and they where rot free bar the lips, so cut tr lips off, made some closing panels from some sheet and rewelded those to the cut down scuttle ends. Its not the "proper" way i guess but its worked well.

One step forward...

Two steps back. Well maybe half a step back.

Tries fitting the windscreen, when puting the bead in and pushing the windscreen from the other side i cracked it.... We learn from our mistakes. My mistake was rushing and not buying the proper tool.

Oh well, onwards and upwards.

Tower bolts have finally been sent out so subby in this week, and if i have all the bits engine either this weekend or next week.

Yes its all going well. With it being in my own hands its nice to be controll of it getting done unlike before,

Ryandalby it probably wont touch a turbo mini as the gearing will be wrong for a start, but i cant justify spening out on a fd on a non lsd box
