definately worth it, im a rustaphobe so wanted it to be right. Ive sent too many cars to the scrapper for rust so wanted to make sure this one was good for a while longer. Was also quite easy replacement even though i seem welded the whole thing and tigged welded the sills

well managed a bit more this weeken (not much though). started to put the bonnet fittings in but the bonnet was a bit proud at the front so couldnt do much.

not realy sure how you flex fibreglass, at least with steel you just give it a shove and it moves so trying this

at least the scuttle join looks good.

also trying a few different fastners, both the flush key locks and bonnet pins but not sure which way.

to fit the flush fitting i had to inset the fittings, so raided the works stores and found some electrical conectors and bonded the m8 nuts into the bottom of them to lower the fitting.

and at least the body seams fit over the fibre front

got a week of in 2 weeks and picking up some fibreglass doors, after all one thing i have learnt on here. EVERY gram counts.

just need to find someone to do the bodywork start looking around next week. Also thinking with all this glass fibre i need a damn good cage anyone fancy swapping one for a good cage.

also decided to go for a steel bonnet at least its maleable.

well what can i say, my time on the mini has been rather slow but my drive to finish is building. As per usual there have been a few changes to the plan in the time since it was last updated.

floor all finished,

sold the gaz lowered shocks and invested in

yes more gaz but this time

yes coil overs, also did a swap for the rear subframe and ARB for a nice beam

only KAD bits i could aford fitted

boot tidied up

and arch areas all ainted

started building back plates up and got one side drums fitted.

hopefully get back end down on its wheels next week

just checking is this a standard t3 turbo

cheers all

The front is looking good, does it look as good close up as it does in the pics? As that's the main downside with fibre fronts in my opinion.

That's looks great!

What boot lid have you got? Is it a single skin one? The one I have, the fit is dreadful and even with trimming I can't seeing it fitting too well!

Did yours take much fettling to get a good fit?

I have a abs one here and its too big for the hole! I need to get around to sorting it out with them.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

Not often it goes right first time for me so quite suuprised. Ive bought 3 fibreglass bonnets and all have been a bad fit in some way or form.
