Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

a great find, i would keep it all original on the outside and interior and turbo it
with say a 130 to 150 bhp tractable engine in. uprated brakes are a must! though

get a flat hat and pipe and go upset all the slack jawed chavolas.......

I'd love to, but the idea of this car is to keep it completely standard, so neither me nor Jay want to keep it when it's finished as it's supposed to be making us money (hopefully)
Managed to pick up some Hornet indicator units today though for £30, so that's another step closer to it's MOT, we now just need a rear bumper....

carl , re the clutch problem.. i had this on a '60 mk1 , it wss the inside of the hose from the master to the slave had swollen up so much it would not let the fluid return easily.. with a new hose it was fine ,and very very light . i went on to replace all the slave and master cylinder rubbers in brakes and clutch ,as they all failed at different times.

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

Cheers Robert, I'll take a look at it all. My sneaky suspicion is the clutch arm broken, as it only seems to return under the return spring pressure. Gonna try everything outside of the engine first before i dive into the engine.

crack open the bleed nipple and see if it helps the return; if it does, it could well be waht robert suggests as I've had the same issue in the past with the woody which had sat for some time

Right then, not much done lately.
But! We have sourced and paid for chrome trim for the hornet.
Managed to get a few side grilles and indicator units, a few rear lights, front and rear bumpers, steering column with wheel and horn push, a centre grille and whatever else i can't think of right now, well chuffed *happy*

Some goodies turned up in the post today, at both mine and Jays house. MY end wasn't so important but it was one of those 'i need to buy that' moments, and Jays means we can get on with mopping up the half a litre of fuel in the bores and inspect the block and head whilst we're at it.

That gearknob has an extra piece of gearstick on it to screw onto the existing and kinks it back a little, luxury or what!

I hate to say this. Just been discussing the future of the hornet with James....
But I think we may end up building up another 998 to drop in the car for a while whilst we clean up the original engine before sale.

The other built up engine will be turbocharged, if this goes ahead *happy*

Just been discussing cost, probably won't happen :(

I would just do it standard and shift it on as quickly as possible. Extra projects end up taking all the time for your proper projects. Then you end up with probably the fastest upside down skip in the world and your mini still in bits...

I'd second Andy's comments; your also likley to spend more cash than you'd like to as well.

the cars have good value in standard form

Not much done lately, Just moved into a unit and been getting all that sorted out, and picked up a spares mini today with a 1275 auto in it.
Hornet is being moved into the unit tomorrow along with its vast amount of spares!

Out of curiosity, how high is the roof at the peak and the walls? Trying to work out how high my new garage needs to be to get a 2 post lift in and get a car up to a good height.

I'll drop a tape measure about tomorrow for you andy, If you look closely theres a bar that raises on those with the ramp, had to put a hole in the roof for it, gonna box it back in soon so it'll accept the ramp's protruding part at full height.

At a guess the walls are about 7.5/8ft in height and the roof peak about another 4ft above that. We had some 6ft tall racking in today and the brickwork is just over a foot taller than that from memory.

Forgot the tape measure today, but had a good look and judged the heights to be about 8ft, and then 12ish foot to the top.
The bay is about 10ft wide.

The hornet is now a project inbetween projects. Having three project cars in my head now is rather confusing!
My own, the Hornet, and the customers car build. Anyway, Managed to get the Hornet up on the 2 poster and stone chipped all the underneath and the arches, checked the brake shoes and drums all round, was going to fit the handbrake cables as it never had any and we havent got any bloody pins and half the adjusting nuts for it!
Besides that, We've got the clutch to sort out, Clean and paint the engine, bleed the brakes, Get it off to the paint shop when we have the cash, fit the newly acquired interior, make a boot board, and polish up all the chrome to fit!
