only a small update but with a few added piccies this time *wink* new passenger floor pan seam welded in, seam sealed then painted with rubberised anti rust paint (used on the underneath of trains, paints on green, turns into a very tough wearing black once dry!) and a few shots of it in my "workshop" lol i also picked up some steel tube to turret my arches with regarding my coilovers, hopefully if the weather holds out, ill be doing that on sunday *tongue*

new floor pan in and in 1st coat of paint

had to repair the top of the wing after a previous bodged repair consisting of part of a coke can, several rivvets and filler!

you can see where i sliced the rear section of wing off top make access to the flitch repair and scuttle corner repair much easier, then welded it back on with the new section let in along the scuttle join, excuse the red paint drips and runs, its only temporary to give the bare steel some protection from damp, hopefully stop it rusting before i get chance to get it in primer and top coat...

few shots of val in my "workshop"

tubing for my rear arch turrets! cost me a tenner from a local fabricators!..

did some more work on the estate today, got the passenger side rear wheel arch turreted, here are some pics!

started off by cutting out the old turret..

offered up the steel tube to get a good location for it..

after a little trimming, and some bending, i ended up with a tight fitting turret

then started to weld it in (including the top plate that coilover bolts into)..

all seam welded in, and making strengthening plates to beef it up further..

all done! just the drivers side to go!

had another productive day today, ill let the pictures do the talking *wink*

you may recognise this face... look in the march 2011 mini magazine in the "on the job section"!

got 1 van side in, etch primed on the outside and seam sealed on the inside, took some doing as i had to tack weld it in until it was all seam welded in, to avoid heat distortion, and its gone very well! had a helper in the form of DaveVader who held the side in place while i marked out where to cut! thats pretty much the majority of the passenger side done, just need to sort the sill and heal board, ill be making my own sills also! watch this space!

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

its alright we made our own inner sills for my mini, the ones you buy were too narrow so made some from sheet steel and a metal folder.

there not new, i bought a cut and shut van shell which i cut up for the panels, you cant get van sides new, although someone in belguim made some but no one knows who he is or how to get hold of some!

ill be making my own outter sills out of thicker gauge steel than original, to make them last alot longer!

cheers for the comments! the main reason for turning it into a van is that ive always wanted a proper van, but will never be able to afford one, but a clubman estate, there cheap, and a cut and shut van shell came up very cheap, so thought what the hell! lol and it'll look pretty cool when its finished, something different!
