Ive knocked together some brackets to locate the new boot floor, when its ready to go in. Im going to make some similar brackets up for the heel board to help locate the new floor.

They are about double the price of the mk4 floors but had to be done! If you get it in bare metal you get 10% off.

I painted it with kurust, then some kurust primer (kills rust too), then a coat of black gloss then zinc primer on the edges. I wanted to be sure the rust wouldn't return

When I ordered over the phone, they just asked me if I wanted it primed or not, for the sake of £50-£60 I opted to have it bare metal. Will save time grinding back the primer anyway. :)

Really great progress, quality work as well. It must be satisfying to get that roof done, I know how much work it is to remove the old one.

OT, but how long did you have to wait for the Golf? My delivery date keeps slipping dramatically, I think the latest makes it over 6 months lead time! |

oh wow, another life saved!! Well done that man. Just look at the difference of the two floors, old and new. Just shows the amount of repairs over the years, and how good a decision to remove the floor altogether is. crack on man! Good skills I didn't have to much choice, as everything was sooooo patched up I had no datum points to work from. On 10th Sep, 2010 Flame Red said:
Really great progress, quality work as well. It must be satisfying to get that roof done, I know how much work it is to remove the old one. The floor looks good, I'm probably going to use one on my Mk2 Cooper so I'll be interested in how well it fits. You are quite brave cutting so much out at once, I'm doing my current one a bit at a time but I have found it makes some bits really tricky to weld up, but I just wasn't confident that I knew how to brace it. I would be quite keen to get my panels from M Machine as I have used all Heritage and although the overall quality is very good I have had a couple of problems I really didn't expect and a lot of them are pressed to MPI spec. Yeah it was nice to get the roof back on. Will be even more satisfying to get the floor in! I was a little worried about cutting so much out, and I wouldn't of done it without the new roof in place as the shell top half became quite flexible with the roof removed. As im replacing the complete floor/rear bench and rear quarters, im tempted to cut the lip off the back seat where the heel board joins, and cut the bottom of the quarters off to save having to clean the welds up...what do you reckon? https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fusion-Fabri..._homepage_panel

Urm I think it was ordered in the beggining of June so 12weeks? My mate at work ordered his at the same time and has to wait another 3 weeks for his. His is in black so maybe they ran out of black paint? lol https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fusion-Fabri..._homepage_panel

They're not doing much more than holding the bits on that you want to grind of. I would just leave a small bit of the lip on the rear quarters so that you know you have the floor at the correct height. When I replace my quarters, I'm hacking of the seam with the rear panel and not doing anything until I replace the rear panel. I've already chopped the arch lip of to save on PITA grinding On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:
