I was thinking of using the dizzy hole as a vacuum point. Any reason why not?

It needs good baffling, as oil gets thrown at it from the crank

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Sorry Matt, I,ve already ordered one to share with someone else.

As Sprocket says, but the hose will be going up a long way before it goes down (over the engine) in my case, so less of a problem.

Just using this exhaust evacuation system on its own will only work as you give the beans and unlikely to work at low throttle openings or idle.

Doesn't Vizard talk about a combined system using manifold pressure & a PCV as a second measure? :)

I seem to remeber it that way... But I'm too lazy to re-read it...

Well, i've fit mine. Cant say I noticed anything fume-wise, maybe revs a little bit more freely, but car still stinks. Definatly sucking though, you can feel it pulsing even when its idling, and when you rev its constant.

I think it has been mentioned, but there is actually 2 parts to this system.

The inlet manifold set up needs to be installed for it to pull any pressure at idle iirc. (see yellow book).

Also, iirc Vizard states that for the system to work efficiently, the engine has to be completely air tight.

Matty, I may go seconds on a set, but I need 2 PCV valves too...

Has anyone got an update after fitting one of these bad boys?

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I had the system on my A35 a long while ago, with a catch tank and an adjustable valve to regulate the "suck" just in case it was excessive(Vizard is reporting as saying it can empty the crankcase of oil, but I can,t see how)

I could not see any benefit and my rear main still pissed oil, which was the principal reason for fitting it.

It has been used very successfully, especially in hipo V8,s, so I must have done something wrong ( and not for the first time

Did you notice any power gains at all running the crankcase in a vacuum?

No I didn't to be honest, I think David Vizard measured a small 2HP increase on a 120HP engine...too small for the butt dyno to register.

What I do like is the fact that I don't have oil diluting the intake charge decreasing knock resistance....nor having to tap space robbing breather canisters and having oily fumes in the engine bay.

How much oil is needed to reduce octane to the point of detonation? Can we quantify this in thickness of smoke screen? as ive seen some real oil burners run without knocking, ok maybe not performing their best. Maybe they were smoking because it had detonated, not necissarily why it detonated lol

Id be more worried about shit pump fuel.

Detonation causing smoking is something I had a big problem with when tuning Ford crossflow pushrod engines - put me off them for life !

what about using a tank connected to the manifold with a tinny jet like restriction in line to limit the volume of air flow to then be "sucking the blow by" from the crank case at idle low throttle positions then the exhaust style for higher rpms where there is little to no vacuum but much more exhaust flow to scavenge the crank case
