For sure a quick build !
Wil, did you check the wastegate opens with the exhaust installed ? I had to make a wider connection.
Is that a 1300 head ? Did you pocket the engine ?

head is a worked 295.

I made a 10mm spacer to ensure the wastgate opens.

I have now driven the car, only making 2psi at the moment but goes nicely. Off to toss around with needles now.

The two g295 I bought in US were green. From Austin Healey. So originally it's red ?

hummm, blown a head gasket. I couldn't stop pinking on any boost. Found a few things wrong with fuelling, but just seams to lean off to 18:1 AFR on boost. Needle looks thin already.

Even tried the t-piece trick.

New head gasket already on, going to try a massively adjusting mixture with the screw just to confirm it's all working an just needs the needle profiling.

I'v also binned the MBC which also caused problems on the TT and put a standard bleed valve in. 2psi on the gauge seems low too, but gauge seems to work ok when pumped up.

Blown head gasket, pinking and 2psi boost. Does that add up?

Not at all, boost gauge seems to work ok, all plumbed in right. I have a few tests to do with the fuelling, anf if tat makes no differance then I'll try a different carb.

something is amis, just not sure what yet, can't be too hard to find.

bummer :(

do you have megajolt on it yet? you could use that to confirm the boost.

definatly sounds like its worth swapping the carb though

Right well after lots of tossing around it is now all up and running as it should be, just needs setting up now. I've been struggling since I got it going with variable boost levels, sometimes 15psi plus, sometimes no more than 5psi.

Today I change the actuator, and hey presto consistant boost. the actuator was new and seemed ok when tested independantly, but was sticking, it's in the bin now.

Some photos

Sexy new front (daft camera angle)

New exhaust and stickers on the rear (thanks Jimster)

Yep, all my engines are grey. Saves people arguing about which colour is fastest. I can say without a doubt that the fastest 998 engines are all grey!

I have now tossed around wit hthe fuelling, but can't get it to richen up enough at higher boost. 5psi is fine but 10psi it leans out.

After reading Tels guide I have ordered a BCA (Avonbar high boost) and an 8 oz spring. I know it won't be right, but it should be a good baceline as the BDD was way out once boost get going.

Yes, I robbed the MBC of the green mini and it works a treat so didn't need to fit a restrictor.
