welll,,, FaaaarrrrK me!!!! I just took my buggy down to my dads place,,, he has a race track (dirt circuit) in his back yard,,, (aprox a std issue Speedway oval circuit) & this thing is BY FAR WAY Quicker than anything i`ve ever driven,,, & what really gets me is how well it handles,,, it`s soooooo easy & neutral & predictable,,, i can put it anywhere on the track, with ease, at full noise

I even gave my dad a drive & he didn`t bag the crap out of it like he normally does with anything i build *smiley* Now that`s saying something i can tell you,,, he was actually qwuite impressed & that`s "NEVER EVER" happened before *smiley*

I`ll be running it down there again next week-ish & i`ll stick my helmet cam on & upload it to You-tube,,, & yeah i know bids just don`t do things justice but i really believe you will all get the picture with this one,,,, it`s truely Blisteringly quick in more ways than one

i`m soooo stoked about it , i just can`t believe it`s sooooo good,,, i`ve totally stumbled across a totally Beautifull package *smiley* It`s insane!!!!!!!!!!!

I just can`t wait to helmet cam video it now *smiley* *smiley* *smiley*

Ok,,, i`m a little bit excited,,, i`ll go settle now,,,

Nah,,, No chance ,,, i`ll be awake all night pacing back & forth , goorking at this thing with this stooopid grin on my face hanging for another spin in it *smiley* *smiley* *smiley*

so,

any plans to sell the frames Matt?

I cant think of any reason to have one, apart from as a toy, but i still want one!

I'd imaging they would be quite cheap to put together, after all theres not many components!

I wasn`t going to re-produce "These" frames, but my metal-fab/coachbuilder/sheety (Dale) is already building a full-caged version ( & Jig for same) to submit to CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motor Sport) for type approval for our own racing category,,, looking at blow moulded polly carbonate bodys at the moment, but if all else fails then back to the good old Fibre-glass panels & alloy flat bottom trick *smiley*

it will be years away tho going on the way i do things *smiley*

oops,,, i wnet a little wide/deep into this corner,,,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8k8GjY34hQ

one of the other guys who drove it that day (Archie) wasn`t so lucky tho,,, if you look close you`ll notice there is a fence post on the outside of the track,,, well he went a bit too hard there too & center-punched it

it`s all fixed now tho,,, bent the front bar-work, radiator, extractors were squashed up into the oil filter etc... broke the fence-pole off at ground level *smiley*

at least we have a bit more room for error on that corner now *smiley*

about 10x people have driven it now,,, all are totally wrapped with it,,,

my dad even said "I think it`s brilliant"

can you believe that???

my dad actually said that!!!!!!!!!

i`m stunned *smiley*

anyways,,, i`ve ordered brand-new sticky speedway rubber bags for it & waiting for them to arrive today (hopefully) & if they do then i`ll whack em on & then we`ll be off to the Autocross meeting at Willowbank this weekend, hope to have some more video footage for you all after that,,, we`ll see what it`s really like against all the other "normal" cars *smiley*

well i ran it at the Willowbank autocross on sunday & (if i can hang onto the thing & keep it in line) it hangs with the very fastest 2x EVo-9s in Qld.

on a dirt track, against 4x4 turbo injected rally cars, my little front wheel drive 998cc on carbs, hangs with the top 2 pla ces outright in lap times

*smiley*

well choofed i am

However,,, i must remember not to use the fiddle brake at over 100mph next time *smiley*

Ah,,, welll,,, i do have a fairly deep voice *smiley*

i actually struggled with the car for the first 2 runs because we fitted some of those super sticky hoosier speedway tyres onto it & they have extreamly soft side-walls, so the whole thing was quite "goo-ey" to drive, it felt really unstable & wobbly for a while,,, then i started picking up the pace, getting used to the track & the tyres , by the 3rd run i was 3rd fastest, stayed that way till the last run where i stuffed it right up & went way too hard at the end of the straight (about 100mph) & decided to try the fiddle brake,,, wasn`t a good choice tho & went real wide hitting a witches hat,,, dropped about 7 secs on that run because of it,,, only lost 3rd place outright by 6 secs cumulative over the whole day

so if i was onto the rythumn right from the start of the event, & if i didn`t play silly buggas with the fiddle brake on that last lap, then maybe i might have given those 2 evos an even better run for there money *smiley*

i`ve realised a few problems tho,,, first one is that it`s quite difficult to "left-foot-brake" in this thing as the peddles aren`t in the best position for that & the steering column is in between the clutch & brake peddle,,, at first i figured i would just addapt, improvise & over-cum *smiley* but after driving it,,,well there`s simply no time to stuff around missing the brake peddle & getting my feet all crossed up at 100mph,,, a bit scarey that *smiley*

so now i`ve decided to "modify" the brake peddle, welding a big slab of metal plate to it (3" longer & 3" wider) shaped so it runs along side the steering column so its easy accessable for my left foot

i reckon this will fix that problem

2ndly , the gearing is way too tall,,, it`s just not quick enough off the start line,,, i need to be able to just "drive-off" at the start,,, much quicker than reving it & spinningwheels (i knew it was too tall before, but i havn`t found a smaller front procket yet) so i have to rev it & spin the wheels at the start or it will just stall,,, & it works out to about 2 secs behind the Evos & Rex`s on every standing start lap,,, some of which i`m claiming back throughout the run, but often i`m not because i can`t keep the car stable enough through the corners cause i`m just going too fast into them & can`t left foot brake,,, it is fun tho *smiley*

so yes i`m over driving it a tad, but it`s all good fun & i`m learning how to drive all over again ,,, it`s been quite a few years since i raced (8 years actually) so i want to find the other side of fast (too fast) & then i can tame it down a tad once i sort the left foot braking out,,, if you can understand that then you`re all as mad as me *wink*

videos to go up on you-tube as soon as i can get them off my mates *smiley*

I seriously believe that every 5 year old kid should have one of these to learn to drive in,,, *smiley*
