Well I was cheated on ebay. 4JG2 did not exist with RHF4, it was fitted with RHF/B5.
The ebay vendor sold me a Chineese copy crap, going to a dispute.

That's a bummer.

Well the guy seems to be honest and promised to refund everything. Still the turbo looks strange.
Meanwhile I realized I could use the two Legacy turbos I had to assemble the one I need, the wheels of both turbos are the same so I can make a "hybrid" with no need to change the rotor part.
BTW is there a place where to buy new cheap turbos, a part ebay. Or are "new" and "cheap" incompatible ?

Well I got a genuine Garrett GT17 for £300 off ebay, which is about 1/2 retail, but I was lucky. My IHI was off this forum brand new for £150 which I think is cheap, not sure on retail though.

I've been lucky I guess.

This RHF4 AS2 looks great but is oil only, not convenient on track after a hard run or even in every day driving. I'm going to use an electric pump with a turbo timer to be able to stop the engine at any moment. The weather is good now, I'm back to the Mini :) .

Your setup is going towards track now ?

What about the electric conversion and high mpg mini of last year before the US ?

I gave up the idea of dual engine setup, too complex and impossible to get MOT in France. I also looked into a pure electric version to use it to go to work, same problem, impossible to pass MOT in France, you must pollute if the car was sold with a petrol engine LOL.
I found another way: replace the alternator with a 5hp electric motor of the same size and add 1-2 more batteries, replace the V belt with a multi-V one like for superchargers. In electric mode the engine runs in lean mode, just enough to maintain itself in rotation. Start-stop system using the starter or idle at 500 RPM (already tested that in the past on my engine). I found a trick to avoid using an electric throttle. Management of the whole system is simple.
But right now I need my Mini running by the end of April, so I'll add the hybrid mode later, no need to remove the engine again.

is there such a thing ?all the 5hp motors iv seen are a bit huge compared to an alternator ?

Check this out:

They told me (and of course I lost the email) they can do custom setup if I want smaller or bigger motors.
But I think we should discuss that in another topic.

I would agree, Robert. An alternator size motor would be around 1kw (1.5hp ish). That would be standard motors rated at 1800 rpm though. Get a higher reving specilist motor and 5hp in that size is more than possible.

Looking at the extreams the F1 KERS motors ar about alternator size and are 80hp, but they rev to 18,000 rpm.

That's really interesting but the issue is still in the battery package.

Also, you need an electronic converter that is not eactly cheap to use it as an alternator too.
