Last Tuesday, I ordered some parts from minispares including the clutch master cylinder.
I sent them an e-mail today because I had no news and they told me it was on the way so looking forward to it.

Also ordered the wider Wood and Picket style arches, do you know if they allow wing trimming unlike the standart arches ?

Bad news with the brake bleed, RH rear nipple is shot.

Any ideas as how to remove it efficiently ?
I tried a 6 mm socket hammered down but it didn't bite ...

take the cylinder off and put it in a vice and gently heat the nipple ,or just put a new one on ?

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

THe W&P arches rivet to the lip so trimming the arch back probably isn't possible

Crap !

I wanted ABS ones as the finish is usually much better.

Guess I'll have to sell those ...

But they are Minispares ones so maybe not the original design ?

Well, they are paid for already and in the chunnel as we speak so it's just a matter of waiting for them ...

Nipple :
I was thinking of using a self locking grip and replace with a new nipple as a start ...
A maybe a hitting screw driver ?
(what's the proper name in english by the way ?)

If you mean the type with a spiral drive that you thump on the back with a club hammer, they are usually called impact drivers (or impact screwdrivers).

Whatever you use, I can see the bleed nipple shearing off leaving the threaded bit in the hole.....

Been there, done that and they are so small they are hard to drill out without damaging the threads.

I have a similar situation where i have about 40mins free between taking the dog out and the wife coming in from work. In some ways it is better as any annoying jobs you can do in small chunks, and just come back the next day if you get knarked

But by slicing in 40 minutes part, you wash hands a dozen times more for a given job, you are much more looking for the tools and so on ...

What is more my garage is small and crowdy so I have to move the car out to bleed the brakes or fit the silencer ...

The only advantage I see is that it forced me to think in advance to what I'll do and how I'll do it ...

Actually, I might spend more time thinking about the project than somebody who has the comfort of thinking as he goes ?!

Ok I didn't manage to take the nipple out so a change of cylinder is on the cards.

I'll see if I convert to silicon brake fluid in the mean time

I digged a little in silicon brake fluid and it did not really appealed to me ...

More expensive, can kill your rubbers in no time, doesn't brake as good, bleeding brakes is a pain with it ...
At least that is what I red ...

DOT 5.1 Glycol is a safer bet with seals and pretty much equal in performace to Silicone DOT 5

The numbering system is seriously screwed up,

DOT 3, then 4 are increasing grades of Glycol then suddenly 5 is Silicone and 5.1 is then a better Glycol.

Someone, somewhere has messed the numbers up.

Personally I just use DOT 4.

What he said! See if you can find any brake manufacturer who recommends silicone fluid!

As for arches , WP style wider ones, they will not allow to lower the car more than standart ones so I'm gonna have to sell those and source a set that would be appropriate ...

Today I fitted my clutch master cylinder.

Wel, almost fit as there is one bolt not fitted but that's the easisest one so it's all good.

I don't know if anybody does it this way but I used a very thin wire to pull the pin in place as it will be easier when (if) I strip it.

Tomorrow's job is to change the RHS wheel cylinder.

Is it the wheel torqued inverted ?

Yesterday I fitted the LHS front indicator but one of the connections fell off

So I think I'm gonna use one of the two pin water proof connectors that I got at work.

Monday is the starting day (hopefully !)

Today, whike giving advice and a hand to a mate working on his 125 (change bar, change brake disk and pad, change brake fluid, tension chain) I messed around with a set of old wheel cylinders.

I broke the clip while removing the old one and never managed to fit the pipe to the cylinder !!!!

I suspect it's must be due to the pipe not lining up properly with the hole but anyway it was very frustrating !

I used to do some work on my car in my lunch breaks.

I found that using the latex mechanics glooves is a good time saver in the hand washing department, especially if you are doing the real dirty jobs like pot joints and cv's.

I do go through about 4 pairs an hour tho !! I just bought a big box for the garage

also fore arm protection, (like some support bandage) stops the need to scrub there also. and can save on burns if working near a hot exhaust...

Do you use overalls as well, as this can save changing into you scruffs?

Good luck with the build btw, I guess you wont have time for any photo's lol !!:)

I used to where those under special mechanic gloves, the ones with blue dots that allow a lot of grip

Yes, I use overalls depending on the jobs I carry on

Indeed not ...

Today, again tried to work on the damn brake pipe but no luck screwing it into the wheel cylinder.

What do I miss ???

Today I chose to change the rear brake hose to a braided one which I have.

It is in the belief that the brake pipe being without any tension it will be easier to bolt it.

Anyway the hoses is very hard to unbolt, the bolts are strange sizes so didn't manage to finish this job ...

So long for the 24th track day ...

Damn, I finally manage to remove the rear brake line today in order to fit some braided hoses at the back.

What a nightmare it has been !!!
