NEW ZEALAND - moving to Australia

hey didnt wana highjack the post but wanted to get sum feed back on my engine setup that im going with if thats kool from some of the guys on the forum

standard 998 engine, neva been pulled apart from factory... :S

im probly gona use 940 head (unless can find a 295 head)
new double valve springs..(isky springs)
having the crank grind
new cam followers

ova boaring the block by 30 thu
fiting new dished pistons with rings
fiting a re13t cam
standard gear box with centre oil pick up
puting in duplex gears and chain
new big end bearings

was going to have the block pocketed but will see if can find the 295 head, i have a 1500cc turbo of like 1980's nissan pulsar engine which i was told was a t2 and would be really good for the engine, im building my own manifold out of steam pipe just gona run it like a log and round over the clutch housing
also have the metro turbo carb
will be using a 89 vr4 galant intercooler
with bov, exturnal waste gate with screamer pipe
fuel pump im not to sure might use a exturnal holden vl commy pump

ive had a chat to my engine builder and hes said theres 3 differnt cr hes come up with and they are 8.3:1, 8.5:1 and 8.7:1, now with those cr wats the max psi i can run

i dont think i hav left any thing out but if i have please tell or comment.
cheers lol its takin me nearly 6 months of looking around to get this far.

seems like you have it all sorted. what pistons are you using with a +30 overbore?

8.5:1 will allow an easy 20psi. At this level of boost you'll be making over 150bhp at a guess.

However much boost you run, I'd advise a 4pin diff. The next weak point will be your drop gears.

hey not to sure wat pistons my engine builder was trying to find a set for me will try and post up when i find out, lol being used as a every day road car 20psi would be to insaine i think so if i was to run say 7 to 10 psi am i still gona make good bhp? also i was trying to build this on a budget so kinda skimped on the gbox a big its been cleaned and centre oil pickup put in and packed away till engine finished, how much would a 4pin diff set me back? to behonest im trying to build a reliable everyday car dont wana be blowing things up all day, its going into a 1966 mk1 id post a pic but duno how..?

Well with 7 to 10 psi you should make 90 to 100bhp ish, and this will be fine with a standard diff if in good condition. If going for lower boost, then 8.7:1 CR would be better.

At the fly yes. I have a similar spec engine that runs 16.2 sec quarters, which is 0-60 in the low 8s.

Iirc the 202 has 26cc chambers & a smaller inlet valve than the 295, but can be modified in the same way & is a good head when worked.

It'll fit straight on like the 295. It's only when fitting the 1275 heads that you need to pocket the block.

Or fitting a 27mm exhaust valve in a standard bore.
