It would be interested to get all cars up to the same weight to see what times we all got, say 800kgs with driver?

it really does sound like avonpark has lost the 'spark' that it use to have a few years ago, is MITP the one to get ready for these days?

I think MITP is a better "show" as the support of traders/clubs has diminished at avon over the past few years - no dodgems in 08-very poor! saying that neither strip is run as well as it should be for being mini only events - I think both are still on the calender this year for me- if the pod put up proper classes like road weight cars as Matt is talking about would swing the balance!

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

I'll be there with the car this year.

Class B for me this time so will be interesting to see how I get on. I will just be happy to get into the low 15s, as I was in the mid 16s with the 1400 with slightly less power and not anywhere near as long legs*happy*

That 3.76 FD really let me down in the low reving 1400 as I had an extra gear change before I hit 60mph!!!!!!!

Also depends on whether I get the gas fitted and whether That Hollins chap sorts his act out!

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I like the idea, but where would you draw the line as to what is and isnt a road weight car?

I say the minimum weight to be considered for 'Road Weight' is the book weight of the Mini at launch in 1959. Minimum!!

if there was a class for full road weight mini's then wouldnt a super light weight mini (say in the 400'skg) with alot of weights over the front wheels to make it back up to full weight clean up?
the extra weight up front aiding off-the-line traction but the over all weight being the same?

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

I have to agree i have spent years trying to get my mini to be able to go faster! I think group D is a good challenge as is! Mitp the park is also good as i will be able to gas and the slicks without been seen to be cheating! *happy*

Personally I think MITP is crap. Road cars in the same class as Carls twini. OK carls put in the effort to win and fairplay to him but some people running a 1380 daily driver aint got a chance

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

-as I said in my post if they sorted the classes out properly - unlike Avon - then it would be a better giggle, it wouldn't take someone with too much intelligance to sort it surely?

I think thats the problem - they struggle to find anyone with any!

I'll ask Jeff at Minimag and see if they're planning anything different.

So will MITP have the biggest TM turnout this year? Myself and PaulH plan on making one event so we want to make it the best one

I think you'll be pushed to beat Avon for TM turnout - but MITP was impressive from the guys last year

come to both!

Fastest A Series Mini in the World

leeds/wakefield.

i think minimag are looked upon as just mug to attract cars to another POD rung what you brung,

POD arn't interested in classes for us silly mini drivers, they would rather stick there tounges down the back of the trousers of a gang of ricer drivers at thye USC,

come to think of it neither is Avon Park, its all about bums on seats and cars signed on,
or in other words MONEY,

i can't think of anything more mundane, that is exactly where i was 16 years ago in Hillclimbing and i never want to go back ,
if anyone thinks they are at a dissadvantage by weight do as i did, 15 years ago,
use your imagination, if you dont have one blame your parents,if you would rather sit in on a night and watch the TV, you'll always be an also ran,

i had 16 days off my day job over christmas,

the only day i did not spend time in the workshop was the big day itself, and i enjoyed every minute of it because i was getting jobs done,

The short motor is almost preped John and the shell is likwise allmost preped but im afraid I havent done anything to it since last post, as between Personal engine builds customer race engines and making a living I just havent had time ho and as gary says we are also trying to build lunatic soupe 998 N/A engines for crazy small money.

But dont wore we are hopeing to get back on track very soon.
