This is a great looking car.I didn't realise before that it was a steel tub with a fibreglass skin. How much does it weigh?

It won't be at Avon or MITP this year, still LOADS to do on it. There is still the engine, bodywork, wiring loom (it doesn't have one at the moment),interior and to finish off the brakes and cooling.

As usual I'm aiming for next year for completion.

They weigh about the same as a mini 650kg ish. Should be fun even with about 100bhp from the engine.

Small update.

Engine is virtually finished (Thanks to Ben_H), just a couple of brackets and the trigger wheel to sort out.

Should have it mounted once the garage warms up a bit.

Seats fit in nicely (MX5 with speakers in the headrests).

I'll have to start the big push soon, as I'm aiming to get it finished this year *surprised*

Gear stick looks a bit out-the-way mind

That's the handbrake.

The seats are just small enough to allow me to fit in the car, but they have got full adjustment including tilt. Good call Wil.

It's oilon, was spare in the garage, is non metallic and about the right size. :)

I do need to redesign the bracket for it though, it's slightly too thin and can flex.

Managed to drop the engine in this afternoon. With the redesign of the rear frame, I was able to drop the whole lump in, in one go.

Hoping to have a good push over the next couple of weeks.

A little update

Dropped the bodywork on today, to check the fitting of everything on the front end.
I've now got the wiper mechanism fitted and have nearly got the pipes for the brake pipes sorted.

Once I've got the dashboard mounted and sorted out, then I'll make a start on the electrics.

It will have to be a charge cooler when one is fitted. Just planning on getting it on the road first. Then the quest for power can begin. So, I'll see if I can fit one in the boot somewhere and try and squeeze some more coolant pipes down the central tunnel.

Failing that I may resort to mounting an intercooler where the mini radiator normally goes.

I've had a very good weekend on the car this weekend. Managed to get all the little jobs on the engine done and have had a trial fit of the bodywork. I've nearly finished modifying the handbrake cables, just need to solder the ends back on.

The bodywork needs a good clean, but should get me a step closer to completion, which I've set the deadline of this year.

None of the panels are properly fitted yet, I've just got them on, to work out where the last few parts can be fitted, like the expansion tank and the air filter.

I've now nearly got the dashboard fitted, I just need to mount the stereo and the front of the dash.

It works wonders with fitting everything on the dash. The dash on the Coupe always struggles for space, but this gives you speedo, revs, fuel, oil pressure and temp, water temp, fuel gauge and the lights for things like main beam.

I have one to put in my car too. I've had it for about 18 months and not installed it *surprised*

I had one for mine for a while too, but haven't had much of a car to fit it to.

I'll be fitting the speed sensor this week, hopefully along with starting on the wiring under the dash. Hopefully all the electrics will be fitted by the end of next month.

Bodywork is starting to take shape now. I've almost finished the front of the car, just a couple of pipes and the hinge for the bonnet to sort. I've got the side indicators mounted and all the electrics on the front have now been done. Just the little job of wiring everything under the dashboard.

I've filled the indicator holes that were on the front and mounted some new ones. The rear of the car needs a bit of sanding and then the rear lights can get fitted too. The rear boot lid needs a bit of tweaking, to miss the plenum, but should do the job until the one piece cover has been made.

I've managed to get the sunroof fitted now. Should be trying to get the doors properly hung this weekend.
