Im impressed how quickly you've stripped it down...if it were me I would of spent at least a few weeks tyre kicking before getting the motivation to strip down! :) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fusion-Fabri..._homepage_panel

Oh dear. I wonder what has actually broken? Obviously all the teeth didn't fall off at the same time. Maybe the layshaft has snapped, or a bearing gone??? nope wil all the shafts and bearing seem in very good condition ,no scoring or wear showing .quite amazing really. OOO you've done well mate!!! Do you think it could something to do with when you changed your diff? I would of though alot more strain would be put on the 'box running a 2.9 diff, could of tipped it over the edge?? Hope you get it sorted..especially with MITP just around the corner!! Ive got a standard 'box here if you need any spare bits? thanks matty , i may take you up on that ill see what i have in the shed , i do agree that the 3rd gear with a 2.95 diff seems to have a much greater exposure to loads of torque as it pulls in that gear for a whilev , i may use this as a chance to go back to a 3.1 ,and run bigger wheels on the rd . Minimadj, You have obviously not heard of molecular welding. Briefly it's a system for joining broken parts where the break is totally clean. The parts are clamped together tightly and an ultra high frequency is passed through the parts. At the interface of the break extreme heat is generated which restores the molecular structure to around 98% integrity. It's a system developed by NASA for use in future space stations but is now finding it's way onto Nuclear subs and ocean going tankers where new parts are hard to find.

Ah ive got one of them dave. 20 quid from costco. Not bad eh? :p TBH i thought that only worked on plastics. It used to!! Things have moved on a long way from HF welders on plastics. In fact I had one it cost a fortune and never worked consistently. Looking forward to seeing Roberts box repaired. Regards Dave |

incidentaly if anyone has this happen to them ,and your not sure what it sounds like ,.. imagine ..take a tin chocky biscuit box ,put in 6, 6 inch nails ,and 2, steel boul balls like they use in france , then put the lid back on ,then,, get a friend to climb up a 3 story building and throw it off the top ...
