so in theory its just a crude dump valve? i'm just wondering if this is causing my engine to draw in too much air, can they corrode or leak? tbh i never gave the plenumn any thought when i bolted it on, i thought the only poppets where in the butterfly. 133.5 bhp 123 lb torque 116mph @6640rpm 9.5psi

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder. On 15th Aug, 2011 robert said:

so as that when the butterfly closes the popet opens and a small amount of air can still go through on over-run to reduce compressor stall.

The poppet valve in the butterfly is to reduce hydrocarbon emissions on overrun, and was fitted to NASP HIF carbs as well. |

the turbo carb rebuild kit has a butterfly without the valve thing, most people have rebuilt there carb and used the new one, my engine works fine with the new butterfly and it must be less of a restriction |

I have had the butterfly, without the poppet, on the carb for four years without a problem. IIRC Burlen don't make the butterfly with the poppet valve, so all you can get is the plain butterfly. |
