I can assure you I am deadly serious.

My father lived in South Africa, where I have been working on and off for some time. I worked for a Rio Tinto support company in gold exploration at the time, not oil.

I have the right to set the record straight Steve. If people want to call me a liar, then they should be aware of the legal implications of their actions in publishing them on a forum.

I am also trying to help Alex, because, ultimately, it is his responisibility to ensure that people are not defamed and slandered on the website.

In fact, it is a condition of use of this site that you don't for this reason.

Alex is liable personally. I have no wish to involve him at this stage and if this is an end to the silly comments, then I couldn't care less.

If it carries on, then the people concerned are putting Alex in a difficult position.

I have let this run for months without comment but enough is enough.

For the avoidance of doubt, I strongly advise those concerned to seek legal advice before commenting further and this thread should be locked.

i'm not gettin involved in this discusssion as i dont know the ins/outs & dont wish too!

but can i just say i think any threads/posts started or concerning this issue & whoever is involved,

can i ask for it to be moved to the registered members chat area as it seems to me as though its not an issue that can/should be sorted on a public forum!

other ppl will only stick there wick in & make things worse with their differing points of view!!!! this is, i bellieve a pretty decent forum & i commend anyone involved running it! & the majority that take part

plz ppl (anyone concerned) dont blow things out of proprtion that are said or implied on a chat forum! it is'nt good at all!

just settle things with a meet-up at an event & have a chat & beer or 3!!!!!

thanks all!

SKYLINES ARE LIKE CLITS, EVERY FLANGE SEEMS TO HAVE ONE: see this sticker on my silvia

the Search-section on this forum is blummin superb & simple to use, unlike some other forums, without the search-section & the help of this bunch of chaps on here i'll never be able to !!!Start the day with a 998cc turbo!!! :) i'm getting closer though!

1st you would need to prove the messager posted was actually posted by the user in question....

for example if 4 mates have access to the same PC and all like TM, then you can not prove who posted the comments.

What a crock of shit this post turned into. Maybe in several years time, when MAGA&INE hits the shelves, we'll all be proven wrong.
All I know is that I'm getting paid for published articles from my favoured magazine. They also answer emails. It's great. :)

18-Aug-2007: I've edited this post to include the below quote as point 3 will be available for open discussion and comment in a few days time. Just need to do a PDF of the emails and PM's surrounding the 'articles' so the facts will be available on an open, public forum.

Well Tom, lets set the record straight them shall we?

1. For the record, I left because I could not have myself or my company associated with racist and increasingly abusive threads that usually had you posting in it. Minisprocket also left for the same reasons I believe. There was nothing else to it.

I had complaints from advertisers about the way the forum portrayed certain companies and their staff as well. Just look how few industry professionals post now - none....

2. I can not post pictures intended for publication and claim any form of copyright for them. I can not make that any clearer. I was clear that the manifold was made by another, (very helpful and also sadly left the site), member of TM.

3. The person in question, I won't mention their name, but he knows who he is, never actually FINISHED any articles. The only work I ever had off that site member was 6 months too late and not good enough quality for our high standards. Remember, unlike other publications, work here is subjected to a fearsome review panel of industry professionals and BS and half truths are not tollerated.

Sour grapes and excuses won't cut it I'm afraid. It's hard to find your work rejected but not everyone is cut out to be a writer. Sorry. Some people can't handle the rejection and go off on one. Sad, but it's quite common.

To be clear, Matts photography is not included in the above comment and is in fact going in the first issue. First rate work in fact.

4. As you have openly published libel on this forum, I require your address, my appointed solicitors have drafted a letter for you.

Or you can remove the comment and appologise.

The final option is that you provide proof of your accusations, which will be amusing as I'm looking at the raw data now.

I don't mind either way, it really depends on how deep your pockets are.

5. All my friends on the forum and in the business know that the magazine was delayed due to my fathers death. I looked after him for the last 7 months of his life last year. This seemed slightly more important than anything else at the time.

I deeply resent the way this forum has been hijacked by a tiny minority of people who insist on slagging off other people or being vindictive.

Bearing in mind you hand out vast amounts of information and dont even own a running car, well, lets just say you amuse us all.

I have personally put a large amount of money into the MS efi project and supported the workers on these projects and been a sponsor of this forum. Some thanks then to find this drivel constantly posted.

I will be checking back on the site now and then to ensure that no more such drivel is posted. If it is then I will have to take further legal action to protect my interests so please, just get on with enjoying Minis and cut the bitching.

I'm sorry that it has come to this for the sake of the vast majority of sensible users. I would have thought you would be bored of the subject several months on but as you insist on behaving like an idiot, you will leave me no choice.

My best wishes to the vast majority of the club members and I hope to see you all at the usual shows this year with the MAGA7INE turbo mini.

Regards

Peter

Now I got to thinking about this thread last night, I didn't want to post, but had a few thoughts that I thought worty of pointing out.

Firstly, If someone claimed they could fly, I'd call them a liar. They could take me to court for calling them a liar if they wanted, but with no proof of their claims what else are you meant to believe?

Secondly, I don't get all this copyright stuff. This is a magazine aimed at the type of people that frequent this forum. What better way to promote the mag than putting up a few teasers of what is going to be in it? Surely the Editor could swing something like this. Seems like a better plan than pissing the forum off and threatening court action.

Good point Wil, I dont know if Peter has been spinning us porkies or not, I really hope not.

So can someone make a load of unsubstantiated claims and if anyone doesnt believe them they can sue them for libel??

I dont think you can get sued for not believing someone, especially someone that youve never met and that refuses to back up what they say with evidence etc.

Peter, I hope you have done all these things, but it does appear that you are hiding behind the 'technicalities' of the magazine...

Well Minispoket came back to the site and publicly apologised as there were things going on outsite of the site that were affecting his wellbeing, cant fault the guy really takes guts to stand up in public and apologise rather than hiding behing bullshit and lies, and for the site being racist well thats just laughable

what a joke! you cant prove that a certain person posted this comment and you cant prove ita affected the magazine because the magazine does not exist therefore how has it affected the sales

Heard that one before ... several times before *oh well*

Peter what do you realistically expect? you post up all this great info that looks like its been copied and pasted from a book or site, you make all these wild claims but have nothing to show for it, its human nature to be suspicious and you have added plenty of fuel to the fire in that respect

you clearly need others to blame but what about the way you have acted and posted? if people think you are a fraud then i think you only have yourself to blame

Indeed. And what better way of ensuring that no-one will buy it. It certainly ain't on my Christmas list. Of course - this is a convenient reason for deciding *not* to publish it *if* we never see it...

Actually Joe - I think you can. But if the person is "a massive stiffy" or has been acting in a manner that suggests he is indeed trying to be "a massive stiffy" then they won't get far in court.

I think you're safe. Most that'll happen is a comedy "Decease and disist" order being placed on you.

Was thinking that myself.
their should be another seperate thread called arguements and it all put in there!

Nehoos im interested in the cam choice because i need to make the desision rather soon.
I was going to put an sw5 in there with a 940 head and standard rockers.
is it right that you have to use 1275 push rods when using the 940?

erm,

pretty sure you'll need the 998 push rods, i belive the 1275 block is taller due to the extra stroke, i think the heads are similar if not the same height.

1275 valves are slightly taller but the block could well be different as Joe said. I'm almost certain I used 998 pushrods on mine
