Not a mini but i think Nic would like something like this.

Not a spherical in the middle but a variation on a theme this kind of setup would work. Only problem would be no reverse lockout. But its a lot smaller and lighter than standard

Because the stick mechanism is bolted to chassis you have to watch out for engine movement (it used to be on end of control rod).

I wish someone would make up a tidy aluminium cnc machined alternative with a sepherical bearing in the middle

This is mine, don´t know if it works on a series though…

The one posted by Mirage will make the first gear where 3rd is now and opposite on a mini. Think it would be possible to make it work using two rose joints though. Nut sure its worth the hassle, bearing in mind one loose the reverse lock.

Isn´t it possible to use a hand brake from a bike attached to the stick to keep reverse lock?
Out on thin ice here don´t know much about how the mechanism works…
