i have had a 1380 with bore flex. ie it cruched the sides of the pistons and when meassured after the damage was done, it was oval.

I like nice quiet girly Minis

I've had one do that too .... machined by a top Mini specialist, built by me.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

You think liners are pretty safe? I have a rare-ish (non-mini) engine that already is +.060 and is a little worn and I can't really go any bigger in the bore. The only thing I can think of doing is getting some liners to bring it back to stock or even +.020. I don't really hear of people using liners over here so wondered if it was considered a no no.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Anybody ever had the combustion chamber and piston crown ceramic coated or similar ??
I guess you could do the entire exhaust port too. That should seriously reduce heat dumped into the cooling system, as well as increase heat dumped into the turbocharger, which in theory, should be a good thing.

I've got mine coated. You can see pics on my site under the "Coated" installment.

On the sediment, I've done some casting, and that looks like either casting sand, or the core material. The core material is a sand-like material that is hardened (we used CO2 to harden our cores, but I imagine that there are other methods). It could have not been completely removed, as I've seen the same type of material in my transmission box.

Is it that it's the cylinder bores that are wax? Sorry, I don't know enough about how the blocks are cast. I'm used to this: a hollow cavity in sand, place cores in the hollows, close it up, pour the metal, remove from sand and remove cores.

Great pics!

I think I know the answer but, the rear oil way tube running left to right does that just drop in to the push rod holes? Ie it's not under pressure?

Thanks simon.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

yep same as already aid thanks for shearing its interesting to see inside
the bore thickness makes me feel better about my plans to have so much calender pressure lol

i to think those flat bits between the bores will help cooling due to surface area to kind of wick the heat away like fins on and air cooled cylinder..
