I've been sitting here thinking, ooh I don't remember BMW doing a triple cam bike, the penny's just dropped!!

Looks absolutely spot on Jim - congrats to you, Dave and everyone else for getting to where it is - sure it wont take long to get it running right :) ( PS - thanks for lending me the hacksaw!)

Right guys - What we (ok, I) really want is for everyone who took pictures of this - or even better, VIDEO's - of it running, and ideally driving to send them to Jimster so he can get them uploaded.

And if anyone has a picture of that MASSIVE group of peeps encircling the mini late saturday as we got it fired up and moving under it's own steam, then I'd love to see that; It was such a wierd feeling - tapping away on the keyboard building the fuel map, then glancing up and seeing peeps in front, to the left, and then all around - just watching history being made!


Matt - You'll have that crown and no-one can take that away from you. I also believe YOU were the true inspiriation behind Jim making this one. For that, you deserve more credit.

Whilst Jimster continually thanks me for helping - it is EXACTLY what a good number of us on this site would have done. For me - it was a personal mission - and to have been involved in all phases, from the design of the front plates, the piston cut-outs, and the final coming together - I wouldn't have missed it for the world...

I also learnt to TIG weld, thanks to a 'crash course' from Endaf, who hopefully will be proud of his 'pupil' picking it up so quick, and making (IMO) pretty good welds given my limited experience.

My other thanks go to everyone who helped Jim along the way with this project, even if it was just mild words of encouragement / congratulations.


This site and the comaradiarie (sp?) built up within it absolutely rocks, and is without question, the best mini forum ever. The complete (ok, 99.9% of the time, but quickly nipped/challenged) lack of mis-information, along with the exciting and innovative projects that peeps take on and share within the community are unparralled. Hats off to each and everyone!

& i must agree, this site is pretty dam good comparing to others around the world, very well moderated too.

& Jim,,,good onya man!!!, The feeling i get when i can help someone in the mini scene is 2nd to none, but the feeling i have knowing i`ve been some sort of inspiration to many is just way more than wicked.

But lets not forget our good friend Greg Temkin & good old Bruno in France, for i do believe that they were the first to "Advertise" the facts about the Bimmer being a viable option. I had allready bought both the Bimmer & a Kwaka head before i got "on line" so at that stage i had no idea that anyone else knew of the fitment possiblities.

But still,,,those 2 people "Told The World" before anyone else,,,so yeah, we certainly have a "Crew" of affiliates who we should really recruit as "founding Members" to our exclusive club.

a thousand of question are dancing in my head:pistons? rods? crank? dry deck? electric water pump, are you using mega?or the emerald box? how many revs does it take, did you match a small turbo to boost the low/mid or an highflow one for big numbers. are the k1100 injectors sufisant or did you upgrade them ,are you far from injector saturation? perhaps are you using a staged injector? which cam are you using K1 , k1100 , which best lca suit it , what did you find ?

Hi Fab, hope your feeling better

Force racing rods, accurlite pistons, turbo crank, yes dry decked, yes electric water pump, using emerald ECU, not reved it much yet, using different injectors, new hybrid turbo, (don't have the details, ask dave) using k1100 RT Cams.

I cleaned my block this afternoon (it was under a pile of craps, all these pics gave me some motivation (it already was plugged drilled tapped, with a turbo crank 0.10 nitrited balanced with ulight flywheel and damper with toothed wheel on.It now need a good set of pistons and rods.But I still need some cash to buy them.I'll keep posted the news perhaps in a dedicaced topic.
