Going to try and start the engine for the first time this weekend.

Few things i need to ask before i do so:

What would be a good starting point to set the carb as? eg the adjustment screws

How long is long enough to bed the engine in? then dump the oil out.

As the car doesn't have a MOT should i be alright just driving it to the MOT station hopefully getting it to pass and then go out for a bit of hard driving up the rev range?

Pretty nervous about starting it.

Are the cam or followers new, if so it needs to do 20 min at 2500rpm NO LESS to knock the cam/followers in.

New followers Tom, so basically sit in the car keeping it at 2500rpm and annoy the fuck out of the neighbors haha

Yes. Do NOT let it idle, as soon as it fires up straight up to 2500rpm. Turn it off from 2500rpm on the key. Easiest way is adjust the idle up to 2500rpm then you can be keeping a close eye round the engine for oil leaks water leaks etc. Any problems knock it off sort out then back to 2500rpm.

Once its starts you should be able to take it off choke and keep the revs at 2500 and get a friend to adjust the idle screw.

Dont forget in the video the compulsory flat cap, cup of tea and thumbs up once it fires up.

I'll be adding an extra lucky yorkshire terrier to all of the above.

Right got the exhaust and turbo fitted last night along with the intercooler pipe work sorted.

Bleeding my brakes last night was a nightmare and it still takes two pumps to lock them up! hopefully the air might move over night.

Things left to do are set the tappets up fill with oil put a map on my MJ and get the flatcap ready!

Cheers guys

I got the hose from autosiliconehoses.

The problem i have now is the brakes are all bled up but as soon as i start the engine i get no pressure. Its servo by the way.

Could this be down to the vacume?

Have you got the one way valve in the correct way ?

Do the brakes work when the engine is not running ?

From what i know Lee its in the correct way as i haven't changed it. The only changes i have made during the subframe rebuild are the pipes which are correct.

I have jacked the car up and spun the rear wheels which lock up nice when the brake is pressed. The front discs don't lock up but they do grab although the wheels can be turned slightly while the pedal is pressed.

As soon as i turn the engine on for some reason i have to pump the brake pedal like mad to even get a slight bite!
Really am at a loss with this now, pretty sure its gotta be a servo problem?

If you need a servo and master cylinder and servo pipe i have one sat in the garage as im not going to run one now.

If it turns out to be my servo i may aswell convert to non servo if its pretty simple.

Need to get the brakes sorted so i can get a MOT slapped on it!
