Another small job sorted. I bought a new set of alloy door hinges and they are a lot tighter than the first set, but the profile of them isn't quite the same as the originals, they are too long and pointed.

The gasket shows how much longer they are.

So I filed them as best I could to look like the originals. Heres how they look now compared to how they were

Time for an update. Made a start on the bodywork last month, not done this before so it's taken a while to get the hang of it. Started on the rear and I'm just working my round it. Pulled out as many dents as I could on the bootlid before the filler went on.

Gave it a coat of high build after this with a guide coat, couple of places needed a bit more filler after it was flatted back. This is the second coat of high build which i finished flatting tonight.

Looks ok but not sure how it will look with the topcoat on, time will tell. Moving onto the side next

Still carrying on with the boring stuff so not an exciting update. Finished the filler on the passenger side up to the swage line. Put the high build on last night. Still need to weld the drip rails on so will sort the top half once that's done

I only seen it when I was like you fitted the gasket. Thought that don't look right.

Not had much time recently, busy with work and a weeks snowboarding but the front end is finished now. Epoxy primer and high build went on yesterday, made a start on the drivers side today.

Thanks. Nearly everyone that's seen it so far said I have gone too far with the gaps because 'its only an old mini and they were shit from factory'

That just makes it even more impressive, I do suffer from panel gap envy though as my car is really rough in that department.

I hate to say it now, but aren't the blanked wiper holes supposed to be the 2nd and 4th (from left to right in your photos) not the 1st and 4th?

I don't think so mate, pretty sure it's the outer two holes that need blanking. I will double check with the original scuttle though.

If it has the wiper system like my mk 1 its very narrow and can indeed be the outer holes.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

Mk1 have equally spaced wipers don't they?

Although this is a mk2, not sure what wiper it would have originally!

Cheers rammie and Jonny, it's the same wiper system as a mk1 so going off what you both say it's correct. I was worried I had cocked it up then.
