About 140ft/lb of torque in 3rd gear. 2.8FD ratio possibibly didn't help neither.

I've since pulled loads more teech out of the oil. Looks like 1st motion shaft teech and Layshaft.

Nice! I'd be cleaning the oil ways out too just in case!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

wonder what the cost of heat treading would be on a new std gear set? stronger quite gears? altho there is still all that side thrust going on so still not that efficient vs straight i guess. anyway

doubt it will be to long before its turning te wheels again !

+ one full strip and clean
gear box double roller bearing let go filled the engine with junk well yeah toast

I'd stick with helical drops personally.

If the helical drops are still in tacked, I may stick with them. Tempted by the roller bearing SC type, just the noise at idle will piss me off. My Jack knight SC drop are ridiculously loud on the red mini. My mates MED roller type are a lot more pleasant on the move, but really awful on tick over.

How much was the dyno session if you don't mind me asking mate?

GGgmotorsport is £100 per hour. Peter burgess is £80 (3 hour session) I think. I'm good friends with Pete, so can free access to the rollers, when nothings booked in.

Depends what your looking for, GG have a braked system that can hold speed, regardless of load , to finely map each load site, for max torque. Ideal for fuel injection and megajolt etc.

Pete's is a inertia system, with it best suited to full power runs. With options for additional load for bigger bhp engines. His system can hold a set speed, however not as consistent. This system is more aimed at carbs and dizzys to be honest. I've tuned all my other engines on these rollers, and it gives very accurate results, ideal for analysing small changes and making improvements. Fuel injection is easily mapped for fuel on his rollers with different load using closed loom lambda control. However ignition timing is slightly harder and does effect fuel map if changed.

I went to to GGmotorsport, as I bought my ECU & loom from them, and he offered his services after a expensive ECU repair (turn out to be my fault, as I should have disconnected the ECU when using a battery charger.)

A man of experience ^

Since funds have allowed, I have decided not to wait for the expected and have bought a gear kit. so the engine is coming back out before I have even fired the thing up lol.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

this is one reason I run a full flow filter... no big shit in the oilways from the box.

oil has to go through the filter before it reaches the main gallery. If it gets to the main gallery and bearings, the filter is surely inadequate?

What I don't see any concern off is piston skirt pickup.......

i agree with joe c full flow + tray but if using a tray probably use jets to replace the lost cooling from splashed oil

has anyone herd of a straight box letting go?? just wondering..
