Okay so today, we had to finish the exhaust then get the car started. Sounds simple enough yeah?

Well knob end over here put the wrong size copper washer on the water feed for the turbo as I put one that was easily 1/2 the size bigger than it needed it leaked like a sieve before I even got the coolant filled up.

So heres the piccies:

New fuel line from yday:

Rear subby:

Pass side in bits again to sort out the Fuel Pressure Regulator:

So my dad was modifying my backbox as it has the standard mini sized pea shooter pipe and obv it needed to be 2":

Center Section on:

So while my dad was doing that I was ripping apart all of my hard work to get the turbo water feed off so i could find out why it was leaking:

And as you can see the bolt vs the copper washer at fault:

So my grandad going to take me to pirtek or somewhere tomorrow to get the right copper washer so I can re-build my car tomorrow and try again haha

So all in all, lessons learnt and more delays; but were getting there!

Exhaust doesnt fit, found the water return leaked aswell.

Turbo is now water tight,
Inlet/exhaust manifolds on
carb/plenum etc back on.
Backbox and center sectined ground and modifyed and still dont fit.

Gettign fed up of buying parts for a mini and them not fitting.

Didnt get any pictures, maybe some tomorrow

Okay so heres yesturday and todays progress:

I had to get the zorst finished so me and my grandad cracked on with re-modifying the back box as I wanted it to come out of the center of the car and not off side like the standard box will fit after another 4/5 hours of modifying it we got it sorted and bolted on and clamped up etc, at long last!

Back on its wheels:

Deffinatly think I chose the right zorst for the car *happy*

After this we had lunch then cracked on re-building the bay after having the turbo leak like a sieve, found the choke cable had frayed at the end and also had kind of siezed in the middle? So I couldnt push it in or out, took it off of the car and it still wouldnt push or pull. Great. Luckily Autorite in Swindon specialises in mini parts and had one in stock so grandad took me over there and we got one, got back put it on the car works lovley. Strangley the choke is REALLY easy to pull now but works fine! The old one was quite stiff haha :)

Got the engine bay built back up and was time to start the car, so first of all we had to put the fluids in:

New plugs in:

T-bars on:

And my uncle telling me my T-bars "scream im a complete faggot":

So couldnt get it started, spent all of today trying to figure out why testing stuff after stuff and just couldnt get it to work right. Carl S said to try and swap the sensor wires over, I was pretty Adament that it was right but was at the end of my rope so thought fuck it, im cutting the bastards, guess what!? It started first time after!

Heres the video of its first run:

Runs rough as fuck, sounds lumpy as hell to, however the Fuel Pressure guage is sitting at 0 and I have to have the choke all the way out to keep it running so im guessing it needs the fuel setting up to get it to idle properly as I have been told it should idle smooth at the 10deg the EDIS sets it to.

My Megajolt Cable is with my GF so will be with me by end of week. Aiming to have it MOT'd by next week :)

Thanks to EVERYONE for the help they have given me. I wouldnt of been able to get anywhere near close to getting it running without this website and the frequent forum members I have asked questions religiously (both on forum and facebook).

Nice work, nothing better than starting an engine for the first time!

After checking the fuel pressure, First thing you should do is get a timing strobe on it and check that the timing is exactly the same as what the mj is reading. I usually have my advance around 15-16 to get a nice idle at 900rpm.

Are timiing strobes expensive to buy? Are they easy enough to use? Is this for the ignition or cam timing?

You can get a basic one for about 20 quid. Yeah its just to check that the ignition timing is reading TDC when the MJ thinks the engine is at TDC.
