After a tip to the minisport stand and looking at their short oil filter, a keen eye sprocket and I realised that the so called mpi filters actually had the wrong thread and they looked like they would fit a standard filter housing.

Am I right in thinking that the thread is 3/4 unf?

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

if it helps i got my methanol from model shops, but they had to order in "oil free" stuff for me. as apparently it is usually pre-mixed for the wee 2 stroke engines. was happier with this as had no idea what other shit is in the screenwash. stuff from model shops is clear.

Model Technics are great for high quality methanol. I used to sell shed loads of the stuff to our local grass track racing guys when I was at my local model shop.

Well I went for a little 2 hour drive today just to see how things are.

The brakes feel great, it stops easily
a few minor bugs to iron out.

i have changed the water injection switch as the original one seemed to be a bit sticky.

I also found that one of the core plugs was weeping. I tried to give it another thump and it got worse. So I dropped the water and replaced it. I put it in with a little sealer this time so hopefully it should sort it out.

I felt that it was a little pinky in third if you nailed it, so I think it needs another trip to the rollers to check, but then the water injection wasn't firing.

Need to give it another run out and see how it goes.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

After speaking to our very own tm Robert and sick of the drone I put a larger middle box in 16" long 4" wide, stainless. Has made a good difference to the car on the road.

Well it's much better, with bh traffic and living on the boarder with north wales I didn't want to do a motorway blast as they were choc. I did get up to 70 on a dual carriageway and it's massively reduced. Hopefully going the l2b so will know then. It not to modern car standards but it's much better on the ears! Before I got that deaf feeling in the ears when I got out of the car.

It's a jetex stainless from tweaks, 16" x 4" with 2" inlets.

Robert I have been thinking about this today, it's the drone that has been cut out the most. Revving it stood still and at idle it's as loud as it's ever been. It on the road where you notice the drop in sound.
I have also changed the link pipe from the kinked type to a straight pice of 2" pipe maybe this has also helped?

Ok the car went back to the rollers all seemed good and we retuned to remove the pinking in third at WOT.

We tried some 50/50 mix and all looked good.

The car was getting a little hotter than normal.so we let it cool down, we then saw some oil seeping from the head gasket...

The power felt good, so I drove it home and checked the car with a block tester and there was combustion gas in the coolant.

So I stripped the lot down, I found some sign of det on the fire ring cylinder 4, but only the start of distortion. Also one of the popes on the charger had split so that wasn't helping with afr's!

I have replaced the decom plate with a solid copper cometic gasket and the a payen head gasket. I hope this should cool at the same time as the head-gasket I think the steel shim was at a different temp

I used some holymer spray on the block side do the cometic solid copper gasket and then the normal gasket ontop. I've torqued it to 40lbs and left it for 1 hour, then removed everything to check that no gasket sealant has squeezed into the water ways etc, then refit everything left the gaskets to settle at 40lbs and the. Took it to the final figure.

I have shoved some bling on with an alloy side mount rad so will have a minispares two core for sale.....

If I get home early one day this week I will fire the engine up and get it to temp and check all is ok...

Head gasket is a service item on a F.I. mini these days. Mine has had 3 and it's only been out of the garage twice..
