In a nut shell, I couldn't be arsed with it last night. Painted an old engine to sell instead, just did a few small jobs. Nothing worthy of mentioning.

What is worth mentioned is we got just shy of 60psi oil pressure on the starter.
If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

if that trigger wheel was mine it was to be used in conjunction with Toms VR bracket and the tooth was cut out with that in mind, if i recall correctly toms VR position was ni on 9 o clock if you are looking at the end of the engine... cant remember, i know it was not in the position you have it at though.

It is the wheel from your old engine Richie. The missing tooth is at TDC and the CPS is pointing at 8.51am. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Bang right richie. We were trying to save a few quid buying a cheap bracket. If it can be made to work great. If not back to the drawing board and maybe a purchase from Mr Fenton and a lesson learned. I have the TF bracket for my car and I also have a TF trigger wheel now too.

Andy, I dont want to sound patronising, but are you sure you have it timed on the compression stroke and not the exhaust ?

I think we have it timed right, but that was playing on my mind. The dizzy has been in and out a few times, so theres every chance it's in 180 degrees out! I've never welded cast before, so didn't want to take the risk - it's a top tip though, made the job a lot easier. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

from its rough position, it doesnt look the dizzy is out by 180, but then i dont know how you positioned the dizzy drive on the cam :)

Crossed fingers and turned the key. It turns over a treat, gets a spark at roughly the right spot, but it won't bloody start Kept trying for a little while, got a back fire and some smoke from the ignition wiring. Then the starter started running continually. So we threw the towel in. It will run at the weekend!!! this looks very similar if not the same as the dizzy in my clubby, it looks alot more retarded in that pic than mine is, going by the dizzys body position you may need more advance and if thats a 6v coil try a 12v feed whilst cranking if it doesnt already do that ( mine didnt ) edit to make pic work lol Edited by Brett on 11th Dec, 2009. The dizzy drive was 180 degrees out :$ and the idle mixture is miles out. needs a load of choke to get it started (the choke cable is still in the dash on the roof).

Feel loads better now we've had it running. There a load of dick-ache jobs to get sorted but they shouldn't seem too bad now that we've had it running. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |
