MOT passed with no major hiccups.

Just need to tweak the boost as it's a bit high.

Yup, I'm using the metro manifold, so I need one to fit it. There's plenty of room now with the diddy GT17.

It makes over 10psi at 4000rpm with half throttle.

Not good when running in!

Bloody hell, I'd forgot how much fun this is!

Been limited to part throttle, lowish boost and 4000rpm, but it's still put a huge smile on my face.

The new rad is great, not seen more than 80deg most of the time it's a steady 72.

Oil on the other hand has been up to 115deg. 20/50 mineral oil for the first few hundred miles. Think this a bit high really.

Rear suspension is set far too stiffas well, which isn't nice in thebumpy corners.

Meh!

I had a bit of a boost control problem. It was steady 10psi till 4500-5000rpm when it climbed rapidly to 20psi! Had a play and after a couple of runs found it to be the crappy MBC. Probably something sticking.

By this point the damage was done. It seems the head gasket has blown out the waterpump side.

Currently in the recovery vehicle on my way home.

All in all it didn't go as badly as last time and on a posotive note ive become part of the (not so exclusive anymore) 200bhp club. 203 to be precise.

It's got a normal bleed valve on it now which works, so it should just be a case of swapping the gasket at the weekend.

Nice one, thats good going!

What was the fueling like at 20psi?

1/4mile in 13.2sec @ 111 terminal on 15psi

Sounds like the problem we had with the van's shitty ebay MBC. Basically it didn't work and we stuck 20+ psi down old pistons rings :$

Good power though. So it's 7 am head gasket swap and then of to the rolling road day then?

Maybe. I might just try it with sensible boost for now.

If it goes again then yes!

If you want the head drilled let me know, I've got a spare 11 stud head I can drop on top of yours and drill through.

The fueling was spot on. I think it's just a case of too much boost for my cr of 8.6:1.

LOL

I dont think that its an issue or too much CR vs boost, in fact I'd go as far as I think most of us run CR's that are on the low side, and we could pick up some power by upping them easpecially with the phase 2 cam.

You can see that all's not well in the vid, clouds of blue/grey smoke out the back.

There's no point lowering the boost, you will only end up winding it back up.

Hmmm. Interesting suff re boost vs cr. I was under the impression that the dynamic cr would be through the roof, but I know there are more variables involved.

From memory, max advance is 24deg.

There was some det right at the end of that run which probably took out the gasket.

Next time I go, I'll have to take someone that knows what they are doing.
