Have you decided on your water pump yet?

No not yet, the KAD on is the favourite for reliability as I haven't heard anything bad about them apart from the price!! And TBH I really don't fancy spending £180 on a water pump.

Ive had a look into sourcing others from renault 19's etc but still not sure on flow rates. Im trying to find out the flow rate of a standard mechanical pump so I can use tht as a guide to buying an electric one.

Nic's also looking into a few aswell, but think he's in the same situation with regards to specing the right pump with the right flow rate. *oh well*

Any suggestions?

Really??? Don`t tell me that Jim, i`ve bought one for the Turbo Alloy V8 mini.

My mate who runs a speedway sprint car has been running them on all 3 of his cars for years & hasn`t had a problem, heaps of other mates run them in all sorts of race cars all over Aust & i havn`t heard of a problem with any of them till you said that.

maybe there is good quality Aussie made ones & crap chinese ones yeah???

Matty, looking good ,BUT,,, i don`t like your oil drain from the turbo, it reduces along the way & it`s best you have it expanding - larger along the way down, if you get my drift?

Just watch out with these water hoses and the manifold that they dont burn through, try and keep them as far away from it as possible

Edit: that sounded patronising, but ive burnt through them before and it looks like itll be a pig to change in place

yeah good point nic , i assumed mat was going to wrap all the parts near heat ,but if not matt , id deff wrap those oil pies or the manifold ,so it doesnt melt the teflon liner in the braided pipe .,may never happen but hey ,whats a bit of pipe wrap or loft insulation wrapped in tin foil going to cost !!

The water hoses would be an absolute PITA to fit in place (if it is possible at all). There are a few places I can route them without them getting to close to the manifold just don't want to cut into my nice new shiney hose yet till its in the car and all measured up.

Matt - The oil drain should hopefully be ok as it is still 4 times the bore size of the feed and it is well vented aswell. In an ideal world I would have it a consistant bore size as you say, i'll just try it and see what happens. *oh well*

Oh yeah no engine fitting today. Been feeling rough all day and been trying to recover to go out tonight! *laughing*

Its the GT1752, seems to be a nice efficient turbo.

are you going to use the thermoinsulation on the manifold? to keep temps down and to save your water hoses *tongue*?

Managed to get some more done despite feeling rough...lol

Before..

I decided to try Nics method of fitting the engine as I didn't have access to a hoist.

One clap of the hands later...

A few more hours later, unfortunately clapping of hands didn't seem to work for the rest. *oh well*

Lol...I would like to think so but still got a fair bit to do.

Make exhaust downpipe
Make Plenum chamber
Fit rad (and prey it goes in)
Fit remote oil filter
Fit electric water pump (and buy)
Wire it all in

And then more than likely gonna have endless teething problems...but at least now the engine is in I can start making the other brackets etc..
