actually, thinking about it my rts has got a bit easier over the last 100 miles, could be down to stuff beeding in, ie the 2 springs sliding over one another. either that or my legs getting bigger lol.

unfortunatly i've not used a grey or double grey so cant compare.

Are you using 2 turbo spring plates? And what slave cylinder?

I changed my slave to verto type, not sure how it differs to pre-verto, im guessing bore size.

Are all verto setups pre-engage type starter?

Did a quick test last night before refitting my clutch. Standing on the release bearing with a little help I recon it take a little over 100kg to operate the spring.

The spring in question had blue paint on it ( not sure but I believe ite the lightest not sure there are any otheres for that matter) as did all the others I jumped on. Standing on two fing hard so I can imagine the pedal pressure is going to almost double as suggested in an earlier post.

One other thing having looked at the Valeo web site It would suggest that clamping force alone will not by itself significantly increase the clutch assemblies ability to transmitte more torque, but better friction plate material and more of it needs to be added intothe mix.

I believe they are all pre ingaged starters but the ring gears did differ or was it the gear on the starter that differed can never remember.

We have an early metro verto setup and it has an inertia ring gear on it.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Well tested my clutch out today! :)

Can't believe how much more "feel" it has to it over a Pre verto! Should make launching it 10 times easier.

Its not as stiff as I thought either! Im going to have to wait for a dryer day to test out 8k and 20psi of boost though! lol but so far so good.

I thought you had it in already Matt!!

i must say mine is by far the best performance clutch i have had in a mini.

with preverto's i have always experienced some about of judder no mater what friction plate i have used, but with this there is none at all.

mine has also got easier still, maybe i've just got used to it but i'd now say its not a lot harder than the orange it replaced, loads more grip though,if you let it up a bit quick you notice it bites down hard.

Ive had it fitted for weeks but typically I started one thing before finishing another (refurbing wheels) so unable to test.

Im looking forward to giving it some beans now it feels like a modern clutch! *happy*

After speking to mini13 about these and driving his car with one fitted Ive decided to have a go at an rts for my car.

my first question to get me started is how can I reduce the likelyhood of this going all rotary grenade on me?

I'm going to by a minispares or med flywheel which should sort that.

is there anything else I need to be looking at?

cheers

i'd say the weakest bit is going to be the rear bit with the ring gear on, as your dumping this for a steel one i'd say you dont have too much to worry about.

i belive the rover monte car was redlined at 8k so they will at least live to that. just make sure you locktite everything.

on the front part ther is a cast pressure plate and a pressed steel bit. i have one in bits at work if you want to have a look at one in bits.

yes I've been looking at the one I've got here, its my brothers one so I can't take it to bits!

I've been thinking I might make a steel presure plate, I could make a few if there is any interest?

which plate do you think I should use? 180 or 190?

well,

mines the 190mm rally plate, it's chreaper than the 180 and seems to work well.

Would anyone be interested in kits of bolts and spacers for this conversion?

I am about to do a couple and am looking at getting spacers made,

what I have in mind is a kit of 9x spacers, long enough for two of the thickest springs, 9x 12.9 grade socket head bolts, and 1x 3mm thick "washer" disc that retains the top ring and springs.

once i have a load of spacers i can trim them to length to suit individual spring combinations if required.

obviously hacking two verto's apart and tapping the rivet holes for the bolts is up too you though.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
