Got a lot more done on the Mk1, and I am happy with the results so far. I will let the pics do the chatting *smiley*

I got up early and called up with my good mate to use his rollers and made the new turrets for when my wheel arches turn up.

Then set about sorting my Gob Stopper of a Roof.

I had to employ the wife to fit in the boot *smiley*

I am happy with the todays work!

Feeling a bit high from all the Pant stripper, Thinners, Etch Primer,

Yes there is no power in there, i just use a head torch when working, its just a rattle can for now to keep the rust off, so we can see what the starting point is, it will most likely get sanded off, when it goes for pant.

I got a Makita battery grinder, 3ah battery, good bit of kit, I also got a couple of extra non branded batterys an they seem fine.

batterys charge from flat in 20 mins, and I was supprised by the power, was expecting it to be a bit limp, but no, comparable to a cheap mains grinder, and hold power well till the battey runs out, just feel it slowwing for a bit, then it auto shuts down.

great if your doing bits and bobs and stop start stuff, but for hard core stuff, its got to be a leaded one

Joe you're not doing it right, everything done with an angle grinder has to be hardcore, panels and unneeded car dropping off left right and centre, It's the TM way! *hehe!*

no pics tonight boys as it was dark when I left the lockup and it was pub time *smiley* but I got most of the inside sorted and I sortted out the front where I had made a right mess of it years ago, plus did lots of little things that i was just not happy with over the years.

We had a good day on the Mk1 today, and the light is really at the end of the tunnel now.

I think the last bloke to do body work on the car was more of a plaster as I have found so much filler its on real! even inside in the oddest places.

This is the rear 1/4 both of them are the same, its as thick as a one pound coin.

Just got the engine bay left todo now and and the the real fun starts.

Thanks for looking simon.

Why did it need that much filler? Was it hiding something?

Thanks mate,,

i cant think what its called of the top of my head but its hard core stuff, as you put it on and you can hear the paint poping and cracking then 15mins it just pushes off to bear metal, how ever i am covered in burns :- from the stuff but its a small price to pay lol.

Your definitely not hanging around with it mate, nuts the amount of filler on the quaters tho...If you do find out what the stripper is i would be intreseted in getting some to do mine at some point.

My car was the same, real thick filler but no apparent reason for it. Some people are really talented with filler, it's a pity they aren't as good and doing it properly!
