I had the same issue when I dropped the mechanical fan. I stuck a two blade back on and the temps were sorted again.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I missed your car at mitp. I wanted to have a good look at it. Looks really nice in the photos.

I'm going to try a few more little mods to see if I can get the side mount rad to work without a mechanical fan.

If that fails I'm going to go front mounted, as I'll be doing that when I go turbo, it would also remove my ugly top hose!

It's just skateboard grip tape cut to that shape. It stretches a lot when you put a heat gun to it so it just kinda fell into the grooves.

I have done that oncen was with a aluminium tube wich hold a temperature sensor. Linked up to an regular electric fan ( the type that sits in the inner wing) and a swich ( never needed it but was just in case the sensor failed) worked verry well. But gad an electric water pump as well. .. that one failed.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

You need to make sure you have sealed it to the wing so the only air getting pulled goes through the rad! As for your fan I had a £20 eBay job on mine first and it was shit! Swapped to a kenlow never looked back.

Simon

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

It is flush against the wing but not fully sealed. It's got a Revotec fan on it mate, not an eBay one. They seem to be on par with kenlowe.

I'm going to cut a bit more out the grill, seal it fully against the wing and redesign the duct I made so it comes closer to the front end.

Jonny,

This is such a nicely proportioned and detailed car, everything looks just right and it's pretty well ready to go, keep it up.

Cheers

I recently had to swap to a mechanical fan and origional cowl, used a two core because I couldn't get the Radtech to fit in my mk1 nicely. I also used water wetter instead of coolent, it runs almost too cold now

Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet

Just read the whole thread.

I could be wrong, but looking at the pics I reckon the top hose from my A35 would fit your setup.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I need to update as some bits have changed the last few weeks. It's now got a front mounted rad and I've dropped a few kilos.

A bit of an update.

Its in mini mag this month *happy*.

I also went to Players Show and came away with a top 20 award and a speedhunters feature to top it off. The standard of the VW cars was incredible so i was chuffed to win something!

I've changed a few more bits on the car to save weight and improve it.

I made a different battery strap.

Drilled some holes.

Dropped the catch can, changed breather setup, changed the rocker cover to a CF one and fitted a front rad with electric fan. This all saved me about 3-4kg and has improved the engine bay. Although i still need to move some wiring.

The front mount is ridiculously tight as i still have a dizzy.

Before

After

Finally i had a bit of a stupid moment.

The door skin had started to split from the frame of my GRP doors (good old arc angels). I thought i would take the inner out to save some weight whilst fixing it but in doing so i drilled through the outer skin... I have repaired and painted the damaged area but i need to blow over the whole door still. *angry*
