Bled to 12psi on the 17 actuator, and no but I have been in a gt17 metro van before, but cannot really remember.

My gt20, you get surge of power from around 2-2500rpm, then a big kick in the arse at about 3500ish, which is when I was getting a squeal from the tires in 1st and 2nd.

Never made it to the rolling road due to a pretty bad oil leak, still have one but its manageable.

The car takes about 5miles of steady driving for it to warm up, (half way on standard gauge), I run dry deck with no thermostat, I will be fitting a stat, just wondering what temp I need?

Got hold of an 82 stat so I will try that before I buy one.

First priority is to sort out my torque steer issues, I'm running all standard suspension exrpt for hi lo's atm, start by doing corner weights, then will go for some rose jointed bottom arms and adjustable tie bars if its no better.

Well, it was good while it lasted, just got the needle perfected, went to take it out for a spin, smoke bellowing out the rear on idle, whipped head off, looked good, turbo came off, air filter hose off, took a peak inside... Well and truly shit its self, has masses of side to side play but no up and down, has touched the housing but not too bad, I've emailed a few companies for a rebuilt/new core, as both my housings are modded. If anybody happens to have a gt20 for sale... *wink*

..oh well

Shit happens mate, not sure of the cause, on the road for 3 weeks... 3 weeks of rain, first glimpse of good weather and it shits its self, could of been worse.

Was it new when it went on?

Is the oil feed/drain ok? Swarf perhaps from modifying the housings?

My 17 shat itself after 500 miles, but that was because the exhaust housing bolts worked themselves loose and lunched the turbine.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Wasn't new, but nearly new, the feed pipe had oil in it when I took it off, when I first fitted the engine, the turbo was already bolted on, so I know the drain was good however, the turbo has been off, maybe the hose wasn't pushed on far enough and was kinked, I'm not sure, when I ported out the wg I took the housing off to do, and was blown out with compressor afterwards, maybe I missed a bit, who knows, but I will be double checking everything when it goes back on.

I reckon it was your launch control thingamy. you would have been pumping unburnt fuel into the hotside at about 4k. that burnt in the housing and absolutely cooked the bearings

It's possible yeah, less launch control needed, emailed a few companies, turbo technics, cr turbos and one Scottish firm, not got back to me yet, fingers crossed, New they are just shy of £700

Another thing, what I thought was a bit of Dett, just as the turbo spooled on light throttle, I now think was the turbo, and I was hearing that before the launch control was wired up, but maybe the lc was the final nail in the coffin.

Started removing a bit of weight from the car, the simple things, door cards, window winder mechanism, carpets, speakers, etc I saved 24kg

Next few days will see the seat overhang cut, door cut out, fibreglass boot.

I have no idea what the car weighs, but I want it under 600kg.

Not that far yet craig, everything I do now is keeping me off the road, both time and financial wise, so I'm just doing the quick cheap things for now, enjoy it while the summer(?) Is here.
