Few teething prolems last night, nothing major though.

Got caught on a speed hump in manchestera and had to reverse off, moving the downpipe to touch the pot joint, all sorted now.

Sticker number plates now fitted.

Run a little warm yesterday and heated up in traffic to nearly 100, removed thermostat and fitted a sleeve for now. Been much better this morning sitting around 80 ish all the time. May have a small air lock so next job is to check / remove that.

Adjusted pre-load and gave it a 4th gear run, looks like its boosting at about 0.6 Bar with no issues, need to plug laptop in and check on MJ but looking to run around 1 Bar on RR.

Other than that things seem to be fine, dont know why i never did the turbo the first time.

RR was going good till head gasket failure *Sick*

Failed doing a power run, before that it was making 125bhp at the wheels with a 80mph load on the RR, so a rough calculation for flywheel power would be around 156bhp @ 11psi, torque fixure was 146 ft/lbs on the pwer run before failure.

Looks like the head bolts may have slightly stretched as after failure the head needed torqueing down.

Mini stripped waiting for parts AGAIN........ *Yes*

Looks like some nice results mate, i didn't get a power run done as it started to smoke which will have been the head gasket failing.

He said he saw 100 a few times but he said he had a fair bit more to go but didn't want to push it with the smoke coming out.

No smoke just clouds of steam from mine.

Sure we can both get it sorted.

Fantastic news Nick, Hopefully the bits will arrive next week so can get the mini back on the road.

Luckly enough it was fully set up at the time of failure so should be good to go.

Did say to guys upstairs at the RR, since i've paid for a setup and power run, the least they can do is finish there works *surprised*

They said i need to speak to Rob who does the tuning, which i did of course and got the replay "let us know when its fixed and bring it down and he'll give it a run to check the fueling again and if i want a power run"

Going to rebuild and run the engine then drop the oil and replace again and should be good to go.
Will leave it to cool over night and check again, just in case.

Could of been a lot worse, was only running 11 psi and looks like for some reason the head had come loose, either poor torque wrench or stretched studs!!!!!!!!

Was looking at making respectable power too, at 4500 it was doing 125 at the wheels, so roughly 156 ish maybe at flywheel.

156bhp at 11psi is very good power. I'd be happy with 140bhp at 11 psi on my build.

How does the RTS feel?

The rollers where showing a steady 125 at the wheels, with the RR set at 80mph. They maybe generous rolllers but who knows.

Mini was floored and had a stable 11 psi.

But after that it decided to give itself a clean *surprised*

The graph is from the final run (when it exploded)

You can tell by the saw tooth the mini wasnt happy at all during the power run.

Mini has now been rebuilt and lasted about 10 miles before lifting the oil seal on cylinder 3 inlet, nice and simple fix.

Mini has also seemed to have loew oil pressure than normal so checked the pressure releif valve and found in had a flew score marks. Replaced it with the ball bearing type but with a standard spring and not the cooper S one. Oil pressure now sits back to were it use to be when warm (35 psi at tickover and steady 60's when driving)

The oil issue is that from initial start up HOT or Cold, it takes about 5 seconds to start to build pressure / turn out the oil light. Been chatting to Brett / Andy and Oli over what could cause this and by the looks of it, it's an engine out job to check all of them. But as it has good oil pressure once running i dont see it being a real issue at present.

It seems like the oil is draining away over time but where from is the million dollor question.
