leeds/wakefield.

Matt, you've gone to great lengths and expense to save weight ands now your adding it back with a more complex cage than you'll ever need, on road tyres you'll see no benefit form a super stiff shell over the basic cage you have bought,

Appreciate the advice Carl. Maybe I should have a little re-think over Xmas. He is not going to make a start until mid January anyway. It might not be all that bad, if the 27kg is for the full cage with all the options. I'm going to check with Customcages as soon as they reopen.

Its 27kg plus the options which add upto about another 5kgs

I seriously doubt it!

Thanks Paul, that's 32kg plus, front bulkhead bars at approx 3kg and rear beam strut brace approx 1.5kg , so about 36.5 kg in total.

That's 3kg approx more than the current CDS cage, but that includes door bars that I was considering, due to my new carbon doors.

Yep sub 500kg without a cage is easily done. For drag strip only without a cage, ARB etc. 475kg.

The challenge of full cage sub 500kg is proving difficult. I find am adding weight for safety and to strengthen areas I've lightened.

Rich1380 is around 486kg I believe.

I'm also keen to keep the steel roof, and can't justify replacing my fibreglass front for carbon for maybe 2kg.

I doubt there is a 2kg difference since theres only 1 layer of cf and the rest is wet layup fibreglass, could even be the same weight if the guy who laid it up got too much resin in it

I seriously doubt it!

Dont know for certain but they certainly arent proper pre preg cf as a front end would cost a fortune

I seriously doubt it!

My new doors weigh 1.75kg each from Carbon Wezel, they claim there stuff is the lightest and strongest on the market. Their front should be 2-3kg lighter than fibreglass apparently.

I've got their bootfloor, and it had 4 layers of carbon.

hi all, Ive not been on here for ages ! Hope you are all well ! just read all this about this project, I was asked to fit a cage like in my historic and said no problem ! when matt turned up he asked my advice on making the car stiffer as long term he wanted to develop it into a track day car so I just advised the stiffer the chassis the better handling car he will have in the dry, But also said if you are going fotr the ultimate lightweight car then a the T45 without extras will be best. I think its the same as many projects of mine as I try and use the cars for different uses which never works !many people want mig spec cars who assume they are ultra light but as the migs have a weight limit which is easy to reach they are not built desperately light . Hope you all have an awesome Christmas ! love from sheepspeed HQ !

The batteries are bizarre aren't they, when I got mine I thought they had sent me an empty battery for display purposes by mistake, they just feel like an empty casing.
