Nice one rob. You should bring it to the next sprint at kames in a few weeks time. I should hopefully be competing barring any disasters! First time out in the 16v turbo *smiley*

Well done Rob *smiley*

Time to put some miles on it now.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Well a bit of an update. Got the car taxed and have been putting a few miles on the engine.

I noticed that i wasn't really getting any boost (fine while i was running it in) however not what i was expecting after all the years building the car! Spent a bit of time yesterday looking at the issue and it looked like the signal tube was kinked a little. Ended up rotating the actuator and replacing with a known good one and 4psi boost found - god news.

Re-torqued the head today and decided to play with the bleed valve a little. Now got around 10psi and feck me it goes like a scalded cat!

Still got a few bits to sort out but it is good to have the car on the road after all these years

rob , please don't knock out your pistons boosting too much pre setup old bean .

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

Robert, rest assured, the valve was closed again last night so back to 4psi. AFRs are good and the map came from a known similar spec car so should be a little safer for now....

will be getting it set up soon when I can find a local place willing to play with the megajolt

Well, its been on the road a month or so now so it was time for a breakdown!

I've been playing about with the fuelling as i was getting a lean off initially under load. Took it out along the country road just up from the house for a test.

So, heard a pop and then engine cut out. Pulled in to the side and it fired straight back up but as soon as i put any load on it, it cut out again, however if the revs had picked up, when the engine died, i could hear a 'whirring' as something slowed down. Could only suspect the turbo is screwed so dissconnected one of the intercooler pipes and it drove back N/A without hitch.

So question is, do i simply put another T3 in or gt? Time aint on my side so i'm thinking t3

T3 for simplicity.

mine did exactly this when i split an intercooler hose it would run fine at light load but on a heavier load it would go so rich it would misfire and cut out

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

I had this too when a slack IC hose popped off and I spluttered home, but by the sounds of it your issue might be a bit more serious. The joys of turbo mini ownership!

Well i've picked up another turbo locally. Got it for free in exchange for giving a mate a hand to move a couple of cars about - got to be worth an hour of my time!

Replacement unit appears to be a turbo technics rebuilt unit so hoping its a good one, although we have absolutely no history for it.

Still need to check a few things but this one spins a lot nicer than mine ever did
