burning off oil, did the bores get oiled? to be honest i would have thought that it would clear up as the rings sealed properly.

Its probably the rings that havent bedded in yet. Its not bad anyways. Its more like condensation than anything else.

That will be the unburnt petrol vapour at the back.lol Will be fine once its got some miles on it. But there is an article on here somewhere about breaking in a new engine and I distinctly remember reading that you want it as lean as poss until the rings bed in. Hope that helps

Remove the needle from the dashpot and remove the little collet that holds it in. The needle is stamped around the curcumfrence.

In what way? ie to compare next one up / down etc?
I have a great link on the pc at home if that is what you are after.

I think t is already on here somewhere. I honestly found the best way was buy a few needles either side from what I had and try them.

Speak to Burlen fuel systems very helpful.

I would stick with the BDD on low boost until you can get it to the rollers. Otherwise it is all just guesswork.

Well thats the point, i dont know what needle is in there. The Guy i bought the turbo gear off said he was running a fairly high boost.

So he could have put a different needle in there.

In that case I would change it for a genuine BDD. There's a possibility that it could have been modified. In which case it makes no odds what is stamped on the needle.

Have a look at it, before you bin it. It's usually obvious if it's been modified.

Ok i have a BDK Needle in mine, i have screwed the richness screw all the way and still appears to be Running rich, a bit of smoke ect.

The Needles looks polished towards the bottom end of it.

It appears BDK is waayyyy up the scale compared to a BDD, I have a BER but this may be a little too lean for my purpose.

Here is a good bit of info.
