Haven't updates this for a while, went too players classic last weekend and won a "top ten" trophy which was Awsome because there was 750 cars in it! Lightweight front windscreen arrived today which weighs 1.125kg the standard glass one is 6.3 kg so not a bad saving there will be fitted this week, and for the engine I'm debating putting a haybusa turbo in the front! Decisions Decisions

The rear valance has also been removed and has recently just been painted.

Cheers lee

Is the plastic screen road legal?

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

It looks quite similar to mine, In the end I painted the carbon fibre parts body colour, It would like 110% more classic, but only my opinion.

Non glass windscreens are not road legal as far as I'm aware, if something hits that and it shatters you're in a very bad position.

I can see what you mean, but in my eyes the more carbon fibre the better

The aftermarket laminated screens are half the weight of of the late OEM laminated screens. Not sure the plastic is a good idea on a road car as it'll scuff like buggery first swipe of the wipers. Also at 80mph it might start flapping about.

Can you get transparent carbon fibre?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

well done on the trophy

have to say, the plastic screen would be a concern to me; appreciate the weight saving though

It'll be fine on a show car that is trailered around.

But most mini's are built to be driven, blown up and fixed.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Still think it's a 550kg car, it's not worth compromising your or your sons safety with a plastic windscreen for a few extra kgs off for pub talk.

paul W still has a glass screne and is under 400kg.

i personally would never run plastic unless it was 6mm+ with supports like nascar.

I can't for the life of me remember, but I remember a long time reading that someone has a plastic front windscreen and when the were driving it blew inwards, and the only that stopped it from hitting them was the roll cage

I've been in a mini with a plastic front screen, in the rain, on a motorway about 80mph and it shows no signs of marking from wipers, and no noticeable screen deflection either...I was soo impressed I bought one for mine. *happy*

Lee - I reckon mk2 lights would suit yours, you ever thought of changing them? They're smaller/lighter than mk4 light too.
