Not doing much this week, but decided to start on the door. Primed it yesterday, then first coat of red today.

Part of me thinks I should paint the car army green, but that's a story for another day I guess.

2nd coat done. Next I'll flat it back, do a 3rd coat and then it's lacquer time.

looking good Alex; are you putting the paint on with a gun or rattle can (i'm thinking the former)?

How did the engine strip down go?

Good effort doing it with a rattle can!

On your front end it looks like there's still loads to come off around the scuttle? I have fit several fibreglass parts to various make cars and they have all been shocking. You normally find though taking small cuts and trims from every point that's touching where it shouldn't, slowly brings it into the right position.

Although if you see in my build thread I have a carbon front (make unknow) and I decided to slice off where the a panel and scuttle join... Position everything where I want it... Then fibre glass it back together

Keep at it!

Haven't done much lately, but I just fitted one of the new door windows. I'm sure they'll be scratched and scuffed in about 5 minutes time, but they look alright now.

Haven't finished painting the new door yet but I will try to this weekend, then I can do the other side.

Fun.

Ha, I don't mind lending a hand stripping the engine down. I am driving past quite a bit at the moment.

Not much progress really, but the door is ready to go on. It needs a polish, but it'll do for now. The whole car needs paint, so I'm only getting it far enough to use, rather than perfect. That said, I'll give it another going over once it's on the car.

If I get a chance tomorrow without rain I will swap the doors over and start re-fitting the furniture.

Also, I have a reverse light thing on the back, and I got the wiring working today, but I have no idea what sort of bulb to use on it - any ideas?

Got the door on - was a bit of a pain and I guess I'll have to do it again at some point. I couldn't get the hinges off since all of the bolts seem to have been rounded by someone else at some point - I didn't even try to turn one. I removed it from the door gap to the door instead, and then re-fitted the same way. The downside in doing this meant I had no adjustment on the door, so it's not perfectly in the frame at the moment, but it doesn't rub and it does shut.

I'll order some new hinges and re-fit at some point.

Only took one pic as it was dark by the time I finished.

Irwin nutgrips for the door hinge nuts. They are worth their weight in gold.

It looks less fab when looking straight on - it needs to go towards the back of teh car about 3-4mm I reckon. zero gap (0.5mm?) by the a-panel and about 1.2cm by the b-pillar.

Thanks tom, will google those

Fitted the window, and took a photo in daylight.

Could do with another polish really, but when the whole car needs paint, what's the point? Next big job is painting the frontend (check how dull it is!) but I'm going to MOT it first, since it's more boring when it's not road legal!

No pictures, and only a small update, but the car has all it's windows back in, and I think it's ready for an MOT again.

Shame it's not a turbo, but we'll sort that another time..

Will try the MOT, and try to get some photos of the car if it ever stops raining.
