Ha ha. Indeed. Plan was to just patch a couple of holes. Then I found more. And more.

Currently it needs a floor, heel board repair and possibly a front wing. God knows what I will actually do.

Sills are off and I was right - it's a real mess. Will update with progress rather than bits and bobs but I'm hoping to make it a bit more solid than it is now!

Also the toe board is a bit gross, and i've found some other bits I want to sort. Drip rails are also removed now as they were rusting, luckily just between that and the roof rather than the roof itself and only one small rust hole, so sorted that out.

More pics. ignore the welding - a) i'm shit and b) I'm waiting for my power file thing to arrive so I can get to the awkward ones that my grinder can't reach.

another quick photo dump. Feeling really miserable about this so far as I'm rubbish so there's a good chance it may all come out and be done again, if I manage to ever learn how to do it properly.

Obviously welding and body stuff looks easy when you watch it on youtube, but in reality I keep finding that I'm either blowing holes or not getting enough penetration (hurr hurr).

Sorting the (carb) bulkhead box which was mostly held in with filler (don't look at the new welds! *oh well*)

Another dump of photos.

Started to repair some rust behind the nearside damper mount.. only to bugger it up and have to replace the entire inner wing. Probably for the best as the wing was pretty crap anyway, it was a later-style 'round hole' panel, bodged on top of the old one which looks like a dog had bitten the middle out of.

While I was faffing with the inner wing, I also cut out the 'hammered' end of the bulkhead crossmember (which turned out to be mostly filler, not metal) and put a nicer end on.

Just got these to go on it, too! Big thanks for Carl (Force Racing). They're now out of production/not being made - but able to source a set. Love these wheels.

Great work!

My thoughts on the floor, chop the lot out and just fit a complete floor. Far less fucking around! I know they’re not cheap, but you won’t regret it!

Yeah, the complete floor (and heel board) is what I'm going to do I think. Also planning on doing a boot floor while it's out.

Another photo dump. The horisontal rails are to hold the intercooler and oil cooler - they're not pretty but the whole front end is shit so I don't think it matters much. Otherwise, just cutting more grot out.

Also; want to say a huge thank-you to Gav @ Minispares (t3gav, OG member here), who has been super helpful with finding me parts even when not in stock. Legend.

Not quiote finihed, no. *wink*

I've done a few more jobs though.

Pic dump coming up and it's mostly self explanatory - but essentially bought a few panels and cut a few more bits out. New floor is nice but the subframe mounts on the toe-board are offset for some reason, but apparently its within tolerences, so I will need to do some faffing to get the subframes to align centrally.

I was going to stick the boot floor, and floor in but found that the lip on the rear panel is mostly filler, and needed replacing.

Otherwise, nothing major to report other than that I'm still amazed how much filler is in this car, and I'm stIll shit at welding.

Thanks again to Tom and Rob who have given me loads of advice (and lent me tools!) - and Gav again for sorting me bits and telling me what I need!
