Actually made some decent progress this week!

Just need to drill and tap the coil overs for a rose joint, then a few more adjustments,

But finally gettting to the point of it being a straight forward engine conversion!!!

4 engine mounts to be made, but I will utilise the standard ones for the most part,
Then get the front subby built back up,

Anyone know if you can use a single bolt in a twin bolt (early) style shell? The only thing I can see wrong is the bulkhead needing reinforcement? And maybe reshaping the lower rear mount?

Cheers Brett, any ideas on how to alter this, it all needs setting up and sorting out, would you have mounted the steering arm lockers higher?

yeah alot higher imo, as a starting point i would have the chassis mounting point for the steering arm lockers the same distance from the bottom arm mount as it is on the hub (strut)
and i would try to get the set back by the same distance ( if you know what i mean)
trying to keep the dimensions the same means they cant 'move' in relation to each other during there stroke

i would try keep the bottom arms and 'steering arms' and parallel as possible for as much of the suspension travel is i could - would be a better way to word it i think
you can get beneficial toe during the stroke but i have not got too far into that yet

well if the toe is doing odd stuff when the back squats... traction will be a problem!!

I think I'm gonna have to wait to see what it's like then start adjusting things as I'm not really too sure on how to alter this apart from doing as Brett says and move the turnbuckles up?

Anyone got an idea as to how high the engine should sit on top of the frame rails , so it dont hit them when it's under load?

It's gonna be mounted fairly solidly on runbers with stabilisers I was thinking 10mm?
Also with regard to drive shaft angle how straight they need to be? I'm gonna try move the engine as forward as poss but this means A slight angle back to the hubs?

Not a massive problem?

That semi spaceframe looks much better, still think you have ruined a nice mini with a vauxshite engine though *wink*

Thanks Neil?!? Hahha
It's ok it's only a mini! *wink*
It' should be fun,
Here's the current height of the motor....

Really don't want to go any higher than that really,

This ones wonky, but I've had to move the turbo for the mount, no big issue

Is there anyway of spinning the engine around and using a transaxle? the weight distribution would be much better the engine might sit a little lower

I think there should be enough room, but when I took some measurements for a Renault 21 box it came out the rear too far, kinda stopped with that to be fair,

Would have been happy going that way,

But really just want to use it now, no doubt once it's done il change it
For know it will have to do,

ron, just try to make the steering arms and the wishbone parallel for now , I would take out the rod end and bore out the eye and put it back in upside down for now .

hmmm, no, now that looks less parallel..

but on the other hand with it below it looks as if you would get toe in on compression which would make it more stable ...
like brett says to get it parallel looks like youd have to move the eye up , or down ,depending on which side you put the rod end on the arm.

I suppose another advantage to using a new eye position would be you can make it a little more inboard so the track bar is longer,as long as the wishbone.

In the first pic that rod end looks at its limit of travel and will be stressed if the suspension moves any further.
