it separates the pulses and make pool up sooner.

so im guessing around 300 to 350 bhp ish brett?

that spool more slowly than i would have expected .

i know of another very similar spec with 300kw at the wheels @ 1 bar, i dont want to put a power on mine tbh, the tune is on the safe side, and the overall drive is good, im just biding my time as i have another engine waiting to go it (still need a rebuild)

maybe spool does look slow like that, but imo im 2 gears higher than i should be
ill dig out some more screen shots

edit: who needs spool times when you can flatshift *happy* ( pic 3)
edit2: also please note the rpms are kept low in some logs because most of my time spent tweeking was for useable road speeds

ah , my mistake brett, i forgot it was a 6 cylinder , 400 to 450 then . :)

should be a fascinating experiment to make a spool valve for it .

41 USD. That seams like a steal.

I can only see the benefit of a machined wheel from our perspective is that it looks pretty. We are not heat cycling them quite in the same way as a lorry would so I really do see no benefit.

That is for a standard geometry wheel of course. I imageine some gemoetries cannot be cast and must be machined.

Anyhow for comparison as brett has done.

My turbo on a 1847cc engine with VVT (certianly helps the spool)

Compressor. 54.20/66.57
Turbine. 45/50

That starts building into positive pressure at around 3400RPM By 3800rpm its at 28PSI of boost.

What are your throughs on manifold volume in regards to spool?

Oh and btw this is the manifold i hope to create next summer. Although It is a twin scroll design. I hope to use a hx40 7 Blade or perhaps a 6 blade. With the right camshaft the engine should be happy to 9500rpm. All this is in the objective of running a 10.XX on the 1/4 with a full weight car. Im currently sat at 12.3 with the hybrid ko4 setup.

3.5 litre Brett ,but only about 220 bhp na , that big turbo is a 65mm inducer , but a huge 80mm turbine exducer ,and a 25cm housing , the new one is a 60/65/ 16cm ,so just way smaller on the turbine side.

There isn't a dyno big enough, he merely points it East hits the gas then measures the deccelleration of the earths rotation!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

yes mike , on 9 psi with no cooling on the ic , it did 250 bhp @4500 ,and 296 lbs/ft . it was running lean , but that was the bhp limit of the rolling road at that time .

with it richer ,and running 12 psi , the quarter mile dropped from 13.1 to around a estimated 12.3 . or it would have been if i had not turned the water off halfway and locked it up lol. in reality it crossed the line 10 mph down and ran a 12.85.

A rover 5 speed slightly up rated . When I was racing it it ran a ford c4 auto but with a clutch not a torque converter. I don't expect this box to last very long and have a t5 to go in.

Ahh, ok. You seem to have a particular fondness of gearbox destruction.

got it on the rd and its a lot lot better ,boost 1800 ,5 psi at 2500 .

only drawback is it smokes on the re application of throttle after boost .no smoke on tickover or cruise .

looking at my oil drain ,19mm using the holset drain tube , its a bit horizontal .i can clock the housing to 30 degree ,and that might help ,due to it raising the drain . weird ,this setup worked perfectly on the old holset , but it was about a inch higher .
so good ,and bad .

regards
robert.
