Clever idea machining down the centre of the bolts. I keep thinking about doing similar things with my pushbikes to reduce axle weight on the wheels and crank spindle On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

Yes every bolt I add to the car now, I make sure I have just the right amount of threads with no extra. Them two 12 point bolts are around the same weight as the Ti ones so it's worth doing. I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Andy they are 3/8 bolts and they are down to 5/16 in the centre now, as they are Not load bearing I think they will be fine.
